THE STORY: WE ARE IN IT TOGETHER• What happens in the most remote villages around the world directly shapes thepossibilities and prosperity of our largest cities.• Lack of rural economic opportunity = urban overpopulation, poverty, pollutionand disease, as well as wars internally and among nations.• Lack of rural safe food or clean water, = urban global food crisis threatening ourhealth and the strength of our economy.• Rural/urban challenge = make villages viable places to live, so we can succeedand survive together.


Our GoalCombine education, enterprise, andCommunity development to make ruralvillages viable places for families tolive, learn, and prosper.


In 2007, READ Global receiveda $3 million grant from theBill & Melinda GatesFoundation to expand itsoperations into Bhutan andIndia.


READ GLOBAL• Is non-governmental, a-political and non-religious• Is a holistic approach to rural development• Is invited in by the community• Includes all ethnic groups in the community, as well as maleand female• Is fully sustainable• Provides free access to information and technology• Has all community stakeholders sign an agreement beforestarting• Gives control to the community• Is monitored programmatically, and transparent in allaccounting areas
