Jemma Payne - Moreton Bay College Since starting in Year 8 at Moreton Bay College in 2006, Jemma has aimed to uphold the values of the College and work to develop cooperative relationships with her teachers, fellow students and the wider College community. Always a positive role model, Jemma provides support for staff and students alike. After being elected by her peers and teachers into the role of House Worship and Service Captain, Jemma has shown initiative, motivation and leadership as she has worked closely with the College and House Captains, as well as all members of the senior cohort and staff, to achieve the seniorís Legacy of Unity. In conjunction with other Worship and Service Captains, Jemma was instrumental in coordinating an appeal to raise funds for the victims of both the Haiti and Chile natural disasters raising just under $3000 which has been donated to Doctors without Borders. With body image being an ever-growing issue amongst teenagers, Jemma felt that the House Service Project should focus on promoting positive self-esteem amongst the girls at the College. She liaised with both The Butterfly Foundation, and the locally run charity, Isis, as focus groups to support, and gathered promotional materials. These were then promoted throughout the Senior College to increase awareness, empathy and understanding of these issues. So far $1000 has been raised to donate to these worthy causes. At a House level, Jemma has provided guidance and support as she worked with student volunteers to organise and present both a Year 11 and Year 12 Chapel Service focusing on self acceptance, and recognising and working with your individual strengths.
