BMA Capital promotes
Mr. Mirza Kamran Baig
as Head of Treasury
Operations
BMA Capital Management Limited,
Pakistan’s premier financial services
group, has promoted Mr. Mirza
Kamran Baig, as Senior Vice
President and Head of company’s
Treasury Operations business. As
Head of Treasury he will have
oversight of both Fixed Income and
Foreign Exchange Sales businesses
of BMA Capital.
Mr. Baig is an accomplished treasury
services leader with over 18 years of
industry experience. He was
appointed in BMA Capital as Senior
Dealer Money Market in October
2011 and was deputed as Head of
Fixed Income Sales in July 2012
where he continued to develop the
fixed income sales processes with his
steady leadership.
In this additional role Mr. Baig will
be responsible for ensuring that
services provided by both Fixed
Income and Foreign Exchange teams
continue to keep pace with the
growing needs of large corporate
organizations.
Bilal Soofi elected WWF
president
The Board of Directors of the World
Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan has
elected Ahmer Bilal Soofi, a
renowned Supreme Court Advocate
and an international law expert, as
the new president. He was preceded
by Khalid Mahmood, CEO of Getz
Pharma (Pvt) Limited, who was the
president of the organisation from
June 2011 to April 2015, disclosed a
WWF-P's spokesperson recently.
Over 140,000 Pakistanis to perform Haj this year
The Haj Policy 2015 was announced
by Religious Affairs Minister Sardar
Muhammad Yousaf who said
143,368 Pakistanis would perform
Haj this year.
Haj applications were received by
10 designated
banks from
April 27 to
May 8 and
balloting of the
applications
took place on
May 14. The
applications of
those who
h a v e
performed Haj
in the past five years will not be
considered.
Under the policy, residents of
Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
will each pay Rs264,971 and those
belonging to Sindh and Balochistan
Rs255,971. The policy was
expected to be announced by April
14 but got delayed because the
prime minister could not sign the
summary earlier.
For the first time an option of
“sacrifice” has been offered to the
pilgrims; those who will prefer the
government to sacrifice goats on
their behalf will have to submit
Rs14,210 separately, whereas those
who will wish to offer the sacrifice
themselves will not have to pay this
amount. Addressing a Press
Conference,
the Minister
said that half
the pilgrims
w o u l d
perform Haj
under the
government
scheme and
the remaining
through
private
operators.
He said the pilgrims were required
to carry machine-readable
passports, computerised national
identity cards and medical
certificates during their visit to
Saudi Arabia.
Speaking about the arrangements
in the kingdom, he said the
government would provide food to
the pilgrims and a contingent of 450
medical personnel would be sent to
assist them.
