When operation starts it is necessary to check if the initial documentation is relevant in comparison<br />

with the operations performed or planned to be performed and the performance targets of the users<br />

of the vehicles (keepers, RUs, IMs).<br />

In accordance with the Annex III(II)(5) of the ECM Regulation, the update of the maintenance file<br />

depends on:<br />

‣ The limit values that have to be maintained to assure the interoperability of the vehicle<br />

according to its authorisation of placing in service. They are stated in the initial technical<br />

documentation and every update of this documentation justified by a change in the design<br />

of the vehicle.<br />

‣ Information on operation such as but not limited:<br />

Behaviour of the vehicle during operation<br />

Type and extent of operations (passenger 3 or freight, high speed or conventional,<br />

long straight lines or lots of curves, direct trains or lots of stop-start,…);<br />

empty or loaded journeys;<br />

Mileage / journey time<br />

incidents, accidents or defects occurred during operation<br />

Content of daily inspection performed by the RUs (maintenance level 1)<br />

environmental conditions (mountains, climatic, dust conditions, sand along<br />
