Interestingly, few companies are located in the South and West of Switzerland in areas bordering France and Italy. However, as an example, Baco is located in Steffisburg and as such is not shown on the map as it is not located in the North East of the country. Large manufacturers are located in North East Switzerland, as are manufacturers of subsystems such as wire ropes, cabins and control systems. From this location manufacturers have relatively quick and easy access to the cableways markets within the West of Austria (which has a large number of ski resorts) as well as the South of Germany; however this location inhibits access to the Alps of France and also Italy. Table 2.25 lists some of the companies involved in the cableways industry which are located in the North East of Switzerland, however this list is not exclusive. Figure 2.6 illustrates the locations of these companies in relation to each other and also within the geography of Europe. Page 30
