A visual exhibition using paired informative text and illustrative image<br />

panels to cover various historical topics, events and personalities relating<br />

to the first hundred years <strong>of</strong> Port Melbourne. Its aims were to educate the<br />

public about local history, publicise a new book on the subject and<br />

promote the <strong>Historical</strong> <strong>Society</strong>.<br />

community united by a common cause. This book draws upon archives,<br />

interviews and photographs to produce a compelling history <strong>of</strong> a<br />

community fighting literally for its life.<br />

Our Aboriginal History and Heritage<br />

Public education on local and regional Aboriginal and first contact history<br />

has been undertaken through a loaned out static display and pamphlets,<br />

posters and guided walks and talks in company with Aboriginal Elders.<br />

All elements have been met with public acclaim. 8,465 people have<br />

viewed the display in the past 12 months.<br />
