<strong>Silicon</strong>-<strong>based</strong> <strong>solar</strong> <strong>cells</strong> – characteristics <strong>and</strong> <strong>production</strong> <strong>processes</strong><br />

A set of photovoltaic modules of the PV system powering the triphase current<br />

network must be divided into three segments of equal initial power. For the safety<br />

matters, the PV system must also have earthing <strong>and</strong> a lightning arrester installation.<br />

The configuration of a chosen PV system <strong>and</strong> its energy balance can be calculated<br />

with the application of the commercially available computer software, such as PVsyst<br />

5.03. [79].<br />

One of the largest PV systems in Pol<strong>and</strong> is located on the roof of a carrying<br />

freezer owned by FROSTA in Bydgoszcz. The self-acting system with the power of 80,5<br />

kW p , constructed on the surface area of 600 m 2 , consists of 366 mc-Si modules<br />

produced by Conergy <strong>and</strong> it allows for a 30 % electric energy safe, necessary for<br />

chilling the cold store. A big PV system integrated with a 53 kW p power network, built<br />

of a-Si <strong>and</strong> mc-Si modules, is located on the building of the Faculty of Environmental<br />

Engineering, of the Warsaw University of Technology. The largest - 1 MWp - grid<br />

connected PV system in Pol<strong>and</strong> is located in Wierzchosławice community<br />
