in Weimar in 1920. After the
Bauhaus was closed by the Nazis in
1933, Albers emigrated to the United
States, where he became head of
the art department at the newly established
Black Mountain College in
North Carolina. He was appointed
chairman of the Design Department
at Yale University in 1950 and
served until 1958. Albers died in
New Haven, Connecticut in 1976. A
traveling exhibition, Albers and Moholy-Nagy:
From the Bauhaus to the
New World, will open at the Whitney
Museum of American Art, New
York in November.
The traditional Saturday night dinner
will be held on October 7. For the
fourth year in a row, Chinati and Judd
Foundation will host the dinner on
Highland Avenue in downtown Marfa,
with the historic Presidio County

San Diego. Irwin estará en Marfa el fin

En el Open House de este año también
se podrá apreciar una instalación de
pinturas de J O S E F A L B E R S. Donald Judd
respetó mucho a Albers y escribió sobre

páginas 57-69.) En 1992 Judd presentó
una exhibición de fotografías, dibujos a

a free rock concert by T H E D A N D Y
WA R H O L S will be held at the Ice Plant
on East Oak Street. Formed in Portland,
Oregon in the early 1990s, the
Dandy Warhols have released seven
albums and built up a large following
by touring steadily around the
world. Over the course of their career
the band’s sound has evolved
from the distorted guitar-based rock
of their earliest records to the synthesizer-heavy
pop songs of 2003’s
Welcome to the Monkey House and
the long-form sound experiments of
2005’s Odditorium or Warlords of
Mars. The band toured extensively in
Europe earlier this year, opening for
the Rolling Stones at several shows in
Spain in August. The Dandy Warhols
are Courtney Taylor-Taylor (vocals,
guitar), Peter Loew (guitar), Zia Mc-
Cabe (keyboard), and Brent De Boer
(drums).
At 11:00 AM Saturday at the Goode-
Crowley Theatre, Judd Foundation
will present an audio slideshow entitled
Marfa Voices, which features
short interviews with Marfa residents
who have special connections to
Donald Judd’s artistic practice. These
interviews address key aspects of
Judd’s Marfa projects, while also
touching upon a more intimate view
of the artist as a town resident for
nearly twenty years. Produced in
partnership with Marfa Public Radio,
Marfa Voices will feature audio-recorded
commentary and select images
from Judd Foundation’s archives.
A collection of vivid anecdotes and
personal reflections, Marfa Voices
comprises the first phase of Judd
Foundation’s ongoing Oral History

nació en Bottrop, Alemania en 1888.

entrar al Bauhaus en Weimar en 1920.

en la calle, T H E D A N D Y WA R H O L S darán
un concierto de rock gratis en el Ice

conjunto musical, formado en Portland,
Oregon a raíz de 1990,
ha grabado siete álbumes y se ha gana-
do un amplio público con sus frecuen-
tes tours internacionales. A lo largo
su trayectoria artística, la música de
los Dandy Warhols ha evolucionado
desde el rock distorsionado con base
