With our new iSO Fe Series, Schneider has developed
a new valve technology that complies with the
highest leakage class "A" specified in iSO 15848-1.
With a maximum allowed leakage rate of 1.3 x 10-7 mbar · l /s (for
a stem diameter of 7.5mm), this class exceeds the requirements
of TA-Luft.
TÜV Süd carried out type testing of the Schneider iSO Fe
Series over a period of two weeks.
This means that the Schneider iSO Fe Series is the most
favour ably priced alternative to bellows sealed valves.
Special features:
■ high-strength stem thread with hard coating for safe, wear-free
operation
■ non-rotating stem seal for low actuation forces and low wear
on the sealing elements
■ Special axial bearing of the stem/tip connection for absorbing
the highest stem forces
■ even non-wetted parts are made of 316 SS stainless steel for
operation in corrosive environments
■ A dust cap protetcs stem threads from the ingress of dirt
4
Three different sealing systems are available for the Schneider iSO Fe Series:
Pressure rating Pn 420 / class 2500 applies to all types
ISO 15848 / TA-Luft
SCHNEIDER has set new standards with
this result.
Significant differences between ISO 15848 and TA-Luft
(VDI 2440)
Whereas TA-Luft deals only with the sealing system of the stem,
with a manufacturer declaration being adequate for this, iSO
15848 requires that the entire industrial valve – including the
housing seals – is subjected to type testing.
The TA-Luft test only qualifies a "high-quality sealing system",
whereas the iSO type test classifies the entire industrial valve in a
pressure, temperature, endurance and leakage class.
By contrast to iSO 15848, the requirements of TA-Luft are expressed
in a very general way. There is no specification of the
number of operating cycles nor, of the number of thermal cycles.
Since this means that TA-Luft industrial valves cannot be compared
with one another, it is advisable to view the test report.
While a TA-Luft test usually takes 1–2 days, up to two weeks may
be necessary for an iSO 15848 type test.
class B at 1,500 cycles / –29°c to 200°c
iSO Fe Type B FPM O-ring + graphite packing class A at 1,500 cycles / –29°c to 200°c
Markus häffner
design and
development Manager
We won't get anywhere by resting on our laurels. Improvements
and progress are possible only by continually looking
for something better. This is the philosophy that we live by.
INNOVATION
is extremely important to us
The Development Department with Markus Häffner (right)
and his team, carry out research and optimization on an
ongoing basis to ensure that our products represent the
state of the art. In many areas, SCHNEIDER's innovative
product developments have set the standard, e.g. with A4
Series Shut-Off Valves for operating temperatures of up to
750°C, or the ISO FE Series that meets the highest leakage
re quirements. On the industrial valves test stand that we developed
ourselves, newly developed products are subjected
to rigorous testing. For us, innovation means dealing with
new challenges on a daily basis. These days, it is not really
possible to invent anything strikingly new; however, we can
use our creative ideas and solid skills to develop new and
unusual solutions to meet very specific requirements. By
taking an unusual approach at the design stage and cleverly
combining components, we create tailor-made innovations
for you every day.
A Breakthrough
In Saudi Arabia
Overview of data and facts:
SCHNEIDER has been awarded the contract to supply the
installation hardware for the SADARA project in Saudi Arabia
Björn Bofinger
Project Manager
Total investment 20 billion US dollars
Start of planning 2007
completion 2016
Planned annual sales 10 billion US dollars
The dow chemical company and
the Saudi Arabian Oil company
(Saudi Aramco) set up a joint
venture to build what will be the largest
chemi cal factory in the industrial city of
Jubail. The factory will be one of the
largest integrated chemical sites in the
world, and is also the largest chemical factory
ever to have been built in one go. it is
intended that an annual total of more than
2 million tonnes of chemical products and
high-performance plastics will be pro duced
for use in the fields of energy,
transportation, infrastructure and
consumer goods.
Planning was started as early
as 2007. Before this took place,
comprehensive project feasibility
studies were necessary to obtain
approval for the new "Sadara chemical
company" joint venture.
The first of 26 production units is intended
to be commissioned in the second half of
2015, with completion and total commissioning
expected in 2016. it is expected
that only a few years after commissioning,
Sadara will have annual sales of around 10
billion US dollars – the total investment in
the project amounted to about 20 billion
Location Jubail industrial city, Saudi Arabia
US dollars. Schneider was awarded the
contract to supply the commissioned ePcs
with dow chemical's installation hardware
technology that has been tried and tested
for many years. The installation hardware
is a combination of valves (ball valves or
gate valves), manifolds, pipeline components,
seals, bolts and flush rings in every
imagineable material. The installation hardware
is delivered pre-assembled, so that it
is only necessary to hitch the hardware to
the process pipe, on-site. This reduces the
amount of time and effort needed for assembly
at the site considerably.
The first deliveries are planned for the
end of 2012. This is Schneider's biggest
proj ect in company history. Björn Bofinger,
Project Manager at Schneider, calls this
contract a breakthrough that will make
Schneider much better known in this
region as a manufacturer and supplier of
instrumentation valves and manifolds for
measuring and control technology.
The Middle east is an important target
market for Schneider.
The Managing director of AS-Schneider Asia-Pacific Pte. Ltd.
in Singapore is Tim-Frederik Kohler (centre of picture).
he began his career at Schneider as a Sales engineer
in international Sales in 2004. he has been in Singapore since the
middle of last year; initially tasked with establishing the subsidiary,
he has been involved in enhancing its development since October.
Administrative support for sales activities in Asia is provided by
Ana Laura corzo Gonzalez, with Zulfan Syahputra providing technical
sales support.
Schneider-FOcUS: "Mr. Kohler, what was the crucial factor
in choosing Singapore as the location for setting up the
company's first subsidiary outside europe?"
Tim Kohler: "Above all, the fact that, compared to other regions, the
Asia-Pacific economic area demonstrates the most dynamic economic
development, which makes it the centre of growth in the global economy
at the start of the 21st century. Geographically speaking, Southeast
Asia lies between the rising economic giants of India and China,
and was virutally predestined for our company's expansion in Asia.
If you consider that 57% of the world's population live in Asia, entering
this market is not just an option for future-oriented companies; rather,
it is an absolute must.
Singapore, above all, is plainly the "Gateway to Asia". In Singapore,
we find a relatively familiar legal framework, and a population with
a cosmopolitan culture based on its multi-ethnic origins that has the
most fundamental appreciation of Western culture in the region.
Apart from this, it is factors like the excellent technical and social
infrastructure, the powerful, efficient and above all corruption-free
administration, and what is probably the most reliable legal system
in Southeast Asia that demonstrate the advantages of Singapore as
a base. The use of English as the lingua franca is another significant
advantage of the location."
10
New Markets –
New Opportunities
Schneider-FOcUS: "is Southeast Asia more than just a subcontractor
for the West?"
Tim Kohler: "The era of Singapore and Malaysia, for example, just
subcontracting for Western companies, is long gone. The dynamism
of economic development in the entire ASEAN region is unparalleled.
Rather, the region is an important engine to drive the Western companies,
and economies that have run into difficulties due to the current
economic crisis. The stimuli come from the market itself: domestic demand
from the 600 million inhabitants of the Southeast Asia region is
increasing –particularly in capital goods, including the industrial valves
sector in which our company is one of the market leaders.“
Schneider-FOcUS: "What does the future hold?"
Tim Kohler: "First of all, we must establish and expand Singapore as
a regional hub for developing the global market in Southeast Asia and
beyond. We already supply the Singapore production facility of one of
our largest customers in Asia within a few hours. In the near future,
we will supply the factories in Beijing and Mumbai from Singapore. To
allow us to respond more quickly to the market, we will have to consider
setting up an assembly line in Singapore in the medium term."
Our Plants and Partners
