• Visual art created in public locations
• Gained popularity during the graffiti art boom of the early 1980s
• Graffiti, stencil art, sticker art and street installation or sculpture are common forms
• Guerilla gardening and guerilla knitting became popularized at the turn of the 21st century.
• Artists who choose the streets as their gallery are doing so from a preference to communicate directly with the public.
• Street Art means positioning art in non-art contexts in the existing environment.
• Using public space allows artists to reach a much broader audience than traditional artwork and galleries allow.
• Whereas traditional graffiti artists have primarily used free-hand aerosol paints, street artists create and use many techniques
to express what is in their minds.
• Street art is a topical issue, especially for the youth culture. Some people consider it a crime, others consider it a form of art.

1. Graffiti is writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or sprayed on a wall or other surface in a public place.
Graffiti ranges from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings.
2. Stencil graffiti is a form of graffiti that makes use of stencils made out of paper, cardboard, or other media to create an image
or text that is easily reproducible. The desired design is cut out of the selected medium and then the image is transferred to a
surface through the use of spray paint or roll-on paint.
3. Sticker art (also known as sticker bombing, sticker slapping, slap tagging, and sticker tagging) is a form of street art in which
an image or message is publicly displayed using stickers. These stickers may promote a political agenda, comment on a policy
or issue, or comprise a subcategory of Graffiti.
4. Street installations are a form of street art. While conventional street art is done on walls and surfaces street installations use
three dimensional objects set in an urban environment. Street Installations sometimes have an interactive component.
5. Guerrilla knitting, urban knitting or graffiti knitting is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colourful displays of knitted
or crocheted yarn or fibre.
6. A mural is any piece of artwork painted or applied directly on a wall, ceiling or other large permanent surface. A distinguishing
characteristic of mural painting is that the architectural elements of the given space are harmoniously incorporated into the
picture.
7. Guerrilla gardening is the act of gardening on wasted land , like an abandoned site, an area that is not being cared for, or
private property. That land is used by guerrilla gardeners to raise plants, frequently focusing on food crops or plants intended
for aesthetic purposes.
8. With seedbombing you spread the seeds by throwing shaped balls over walls or fences into inaccessible areas such as
wasteland and change it for example into a field of wild flowers or a herb garden.
