●With the Director of Faculty Research and Planning and the designated<br />

<strong>University</strong> Development liaison locate funding sources for each area of<br />

concentration, in particular as they merit research according to the post-<br />

Katrina architectural and urban design environment<br />

●Along with the Director of Faculty Research and Planning and the<br />

designated Development liaison have individual faculty and faculty<br />

leadership groups apply for grants and other means to fund areas of<br />

interest and leadership<br />

●Identify faculty leaders in the areas of urban/community, international<br />

studies, professional practice, design/build and service learning; and<br />

develop a Vision Plan for each area of opportunity<br />

a. Promote connections between the school, alumni, the community and the<br />

profession to enhance the school's reputation amongst key stakeholders.<br />

Lead individual or group: Dean of the School of <strong>Architecture</strong>; Executive<br />

Committee of the School of <strong>Architecture</strong>.<br />

Long-term action steps (three to five years)<br />

●Develop the <strong>Tulane</strong> City Center (Downtown Center) to correspond<br />

with the <strong>Tulane</strong> Renewal Plan, in particular as it will develop ties to the<br />

urban community and enhance faculty and students' expertise in this area<br />

●Use the <strong>Tulane</strong> City Center as a bridge-building exercise between<br />

alumni, the community and the profession by doing projects that develop<br />

and enhance community efforts, and use the expertise of local and<br />

regional members of the profession<br />

●Further develop Service Learning opportunities for the faculty and<br />

students, in particular as these opportunities interface with the local and<br />

regional communities<br />

●Expand Career Development Expo Participation by 50%, especially as<br />

visiting firms are tied to alumni outreach<br />

Short-term action steps (one year)<br />

●Seek correspondence between the <strong>Tulane</strong> Renewal Plan (particularly<br />

the partnership with Xavier and Dillard Universities), with its emphasis on<br />

the diversity and range of key stakeholders in the redevelopment and<br />

renewal of the city and region.
