Short-term action steps (one year)<br />

●Hire at least two faculty members (professors in practice, tenure-track)<br />

in the areas of urban design and digital technology<br />

●Further develop the Service Learning components of the curriculum<br />

●Create a <strong>New</strong> <strong>Orleans</strong> Urban Design Studio, to reside at the <strong>Tulane</strong> City<br />

Center in downtown <strong>New</strong> <strong>Orleans</strong><br />

●Create an Urban Design Resource Network, to include aspects of<br />

inquiry and study responsive to the post-Katrina environment<br />

●Solidify and further develop International Studies <strong>Program</strong>s for<br />

participation by all students.<br />

●Develop and inaugurate new curricular offerings, including a Masters of<br />

<strong>Architecture</strong> and Urban Design Degree, a Masters of<br />

<strong>Architecture</strong>/Masters in Business Administration Degree and a Masters of<br />

<strong>Architecture</strong>/Masters of Law Degree.<br />

●Develop a strategic plan for the Center for the Study of Leisure and<br />

Tourism<br />

●Develop a strategic plan for the <strong>Tulane</strong> City Center, to include the<br />

Urbanbuild, Urban Design and Urban Resource Network aspects of the<br />

Center<br />

●Correspond to <strong>Tulane</strong>'s Renewal plan, in particular as it affects the<br />

curricular development of the School of <strong>Architecture</strong> across all levels<br />

●Enhance faculty subscription to both the TIDES program and the<br />

Service Learning aspects of the curriculum<br />

●Require all students to participate in a Service Learning component of<br />

the curriculum, which is to occur at the level of fourth year<br />

●Confirm the liberal arts foundation of the School of <strong>Architecture</strong>'s current<br />

curriculum, and future curriculum adjustments<br />

●Continue to require that all students complete a rigorous capstone<br />

experience as part of their curriculum<br />

●Promote the initiation of a call to 'civic' experience and contribution<br />

among both the faculty and student body<br />

b. Capitalize on the relationships between the School of <strong>Architecture</strong> and the<br />

profession, thereby promoting a more seamless relationship between architectural<br />

education and the profession of architecture. Launch faculty- driven and studentservices<br />

driven projects focused on developing a more integrated, seamless,<br />

and outcome oriented approach to undergraduate and graduate education.<br />
