3. 10. FINANCIAL RESOURCES AND INSTITUTIONAL COMMITMENT<br />

Budget<br />

The total operating budget provided to the School by the <strong>University</strong> for the<br />

2006-2007 academic (fiscal year 2007) was $2,553,232.67. Of this,<br />

approximately $2,012,382.54 went to faculty and staff salaries and fringe<br />

benefits (accounts #211000-5111 to 5899). The remaining $486,790.88<br />

covered all equipment, supplies and expenses for the School's endeavors<br />

(accounts #211000-6111 to 8223). Student workers were funded by<br />

$54,059.25 within the <strong>Architecture</strong> Budget. The level of M. Arch I<br />

Scholarship support within the <strong>Architecture</strong> budget was $192,000.00.<br />

Endowments<br />

The School of <strong>Architecture</strong>'s total endowed funds had a 1.1.07 book value<br />

of $6,521,562.00 a nearly 76% increase in five years. The endowment is<br />

divided between 38 funds, with various restrictions on their use stipulated<br />

by their donors. The projected income of these endowed funds for FY 07 is<br />

$278,374 (spendable), an increase of 57% over the previous FY 06.<br />

Annual giving to the <strong>Architecture</strong> School for academic and fiscal year 2007<br />

was $855,977.00. Of this, $781,000.00 was in restricted giving, and thus<br />

available for the operating expenses of the School.<br />

Scholarships<br />

<strong>Tulane</strong> <strong>University</strong> scholarship funds have increased substantially in the<br />

past few years, and now stand at over $105 million (an increase of 40% in<br />

five years. More than half of all undergraduates receive some kind of aid.<br />

A total of 185 undergraduate <strong>Architecture</strong> students received institutional<br />

scholarship aid in the 2006-2007 academic year.<br />

Listed below are the types of institutional scholarships, and total dollar<br />

amounts, awarded to undergraduate <strong>Architecture</strong> students.<br />
