Service
Full-time faculty are expected to contribute to the health of the program
by serving on committees at the request of the Dean. All faculty are
expected to cooperate in the development of shared course material and
the equitable sharing of student support through reviews, advising, and
related matters.
In general, service to the school, university and community is highly
encouraged and supported. Due to the special circumstances of New
Orleans and the position of Tulane University as a partner with the
community, active involvement in the community on the part of the faculty
is not only respected, but highly valued. In addition, Tulane University
maintains strong faculty governance and the School of Architecture
faculty are very visible on committees across campus. In addition, there
is a great deal of interaction with the faculties of other disciplines and
professional schools.
Faculty participation in the professional community is also encouraged.
These ‘communities’ can be situated within the traditional bounds of
architectural practice and service, or within the arts and research
communities. A brief review of faculty curriculum vitae will support the
notion of strong participation in the life of the various communities that
make up the fabric of daily life both within and without the School of
Architecture.
