Petechiae, Purpura and Vasculitis

Management: PAN
• Chronic course (months-years);
exacerbations/remissions
• Local wound care to any skin ulcerations
• Patients without cutaneous PAN may be treated with
systemic corticosteroids alone
• For patients with cardiac, gastrointestinal,
neurological, or renal involvement (i.e., systemic PAN):
• Specialty consultation for involved organs (especially
nephrology and neurology)
• Adjunctive therapy with cyclophosphamide
• Treat any underlying infections (e.g., HBV)
