lesion reveals a leukocytoclastic vasculitis of the<br />

small dermal blood vessels<br />

• Direct immunofluorescence demonstrates<br />

perivascular IgA, C3 <strong>and</strong> fibrin deposits<br />

• A skin biopsy is often necessary to establish the<br />

diagnosis of vasculitis<br />
