or others, it is sasaïkhàrika.<br />

Now a mother is worrying about her daughter. What citta<br />

will be arising in the mother?<br />

It is dosa-måla citta with the name:<br />

Domanassa-sahagataü pañigha-sampayuttaü asaïkhàrika citta.<br />

A father explained to his son that the son had been cheated.<br />

The son became sad. What type of citta would the son have?<br />

It is domanassa-sahagataü pañigha sampayuttaü sasaïkhàrika<br />

dosa-måla citta.<br />

Moha-måla Cittas<br />

Again there are two types of cittas rooted in moha (ignorance or<br />

delusion). Their symbols and names are as follows.<br />

vici-sam uddhac-sam<br />

– –<br />

1 Upekkhà-sahagataü vicikicchà-sampayuttaü ekaü<br />

2 Upekkhà-sahagataü uddhacca-sampayuttaü ekaü<br />

Meanings and Applications<br />

vicikicchà : sceptical doubt about the <strong>Buddha</strong>, the<br />

Dhamma, the Saõgha and the Training<br />

uddhacca : restlessness<br />

The meanings of the two moha-måla cittas are:<br />

1 One consciousness, accompanied by indifference, and<br />

connected with sceptical doubt.
