5 Diññhànusaya – false views; it is diññhi-cetasika present in<br />

the 4 lobha-måla diññhi-sampayutta cittas.<br />

6 Vicikicchànusaya – sceptical doubts; it is vicikicchà-cetasika<br />

present in moha-måla vicikicchà-sampayutta citta.<br />

7 Avijjànusaya – ignorance; it is moha present in the 12<br />

akusala cittas.<br />

8 Ten Saüyojanas (Ten Fetters)<br />

‘Saüyojana’ means fetter that binds beings to the wheel of existence<br />

and to the rounds of misery. There are ten fetters which<br />

bind each individual to the wheel of existence.<br />

a Ten Fetters according to Sutta Pitaka:<br />

1 Kàmaràga-saüyojana – attachment to sense-objects,<br />

2 Råparàga-saüyojana – attachment to råpa-jhànas and<br />

råpa-existence,<br />

3 Aråparàga-saüyojana – attachment to aråpa-jhàna and<br />

aråpa-existence,<br />

4 Pañighà-saüyojana – ill-will or hatred,<br />

5 Màna-saüyojana – pride,<br />

6 Diññhi-saüyojana – false views,<br />

7 Silabbata-paràmàsa-saüyojana – adherence to the false<br />

view that one becomes pure by bovine and canine<br />

morality or by rites and ceremonies,<br />

8 Vicikicchà-saüyojana – sceptical doubt,<br />

9 Uddhacca-saüyojana – restlessness,<br />

10 Avijjà-saüyojana – ignorance.<br />

The essential elements for the above ten fetters are lobha<br />

(for 1,2,3), dosa, màna, diññhi (for 6, 7), vicikicchà, uddhacca and<br />

moha, i.e., 7 cetasikas in all.
