Notes from the Clubhouse....
T
he first Tribute, Red Hudson Invitational went very
well. We had 56 teams entered, and everyone who
participated had great things to say about Pinnacle’s
course, amenities, Members, staff and food. The parties were all
successful, and despite the heat, everyone had a great weekend.
Special thanks to Brent
Henry and his Tribute Committee: Kevin Bourland,
Wayne Callahan, Clay Conly, Allan Davis,
Joe Hardin, Michael Hudson, Matt Nelson and Jack See. The Hudson
family deserves our gratitude for allowing us to honor Mr. Red Hudson
with a golf tournament dedicated to his memory.
The winners of the Tribute were Michael Chaney and Steven Dixon.
We look forward to an even bigger event next year, and many years to
come.

The LPGA (Sept. 6-12) is fast approaching! As usual, the Club will be
descended upon by LPGA personnel, players, volunteers, and spectators.
We’ll have national news media, security personnel, and celebrity
golfers on the premises. For many of you, this is beginning to become
routine. To the uninitiated, it will be a completely new experience.
A few tips:
• Members and residents will receive free tickets and parking passes, and will have
the opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a discounted rate. Please watch
your mail (and e-mail) for a letter that will be coming soon with all the details
about how to get your tickets. Be sure and pick up your tickets before the deadline,
or it’s a long walk to the will-call tent!
• For residents, trash service will be moved from Friday to Thursday. Be sure to
have your receptacle out and ready!
• If you’d like to volunteer, Pinnacle members can volunteer for a discounted rate. Call the Octagon office
at 715-6100 for more information.
• The golf course closes the weekend before
the tournament -- this allows LPGA officials to
mark the course and prepare for the tournament.
• The main portion of the clubhouse will be
closed. Your member badge will get you into
the Mixed Grill for special service there. The
Patio is also open with Pinnacle chefs at the
grill.
We are honored to host the P&G LPGA tournament.

Change of Scenery
Over the past several weeks your maintenance team
has been running and gunning on necessary cultural
practices such as Zoysia topdressing, needle tine
aerations on putting surfaces and most importantly
our water management practices this
time of year. While June was the 6th hottest
June on record since approximately
1875, July has not been any cake walk
either with the various heavy showers we
received followed by HOT and HUMID conditions.
To try to combat these weather conditions
we have been running our new subair
units to vacuum out excess moisture
from the putting surfaces and have been
also monitoring these moisture levels in
the greens with moisture meters to maintain
these areas right between 10%(wilting
point) and 20%.
With moisture levels greater than 20% under a hot
intense sun we could experience wet wilt which is
basically boiling of the plant where surface temperatures
of the green can exceed 120 degrees this time

Now that August is here the end is in sight, but
summer is far from over. These same challenges
could very well continue through the middle of September.
The good news is…… day length
is getting shorter every day now that we
are past the summer equinox.
With hopefully some nice days from
Mother Nature, we will be able to lightly
topdress greens to maintain our premium
putting surfaces that you have all been
raving about until the weather changes
for the better.

Nights Out on the Course
There will be two “night-out” opportunities for the
month of August. The Men’s Nights Out are scheduled on
the 19th and 26th. Both will be 6:00 shotguns. Come out
for some golf, fun and friendship.
The Month Of
CHAMPIONS
There will be three championships this month.
The first will be our Junior Club Championship on the 7th and
8th. There will be a boys and girls division this year so be sure
to get signed up.
Next up is the Men’s Club
Championship. This will be held
Friday the 13th through Saturday
the 15th. These rounds will also
count toward the Arkansas Cup
Qualifiers.
The last championship will be
for the ladies. It is on Saturday
and Sunday the 28th and 29th.

welcome you to come out and
see some great golf and big time
competition.
Social
Couples
There will be one social couple’s event on Friday,
August 6th. This will be a 6:00 p.m. shotgun.
Be sure to get signed up, It’s a great way to
meet new couples and have a fun time on the
golf course.
Mark your
Calendars!
Saturday August 21st will be the Match Play finals. The matches
will start at 9:00 a.m. The season long matches have all boiled
down to these few remaining players. Come out to cheer on
your favorite player and watch as victory unfolds.

for our kitchen staff. Our cooks will be coming up with
their versions of the best burgers in NWA. We will offer
the burgers as a special for the month and the top two
sellers will receive a prize.
These types of contest are a great source of pride for
our staff and keep them inspired toward outperforming
yesterday and getting better tomorrow.
