STI’s Barrier Management Program (BMP) provides operational
practices and training that help restore integrity in existing
buildings and insure continuous integrity in new facilities.
More than a plan for improvement (PFI), the BMP allows facilities
to proactively take control of barriers, insuring on-going
barrier integrity and reducing Joint Commission violations.

EZ-Path ® fire rated pathway
Non-Firestopped, or improperly firestopped cables represent a significant
amount of Joint Commission findings. STI’s EZ-Path ® fire rated
pathway is always fire and smoke compliant. With nothing to remove,
reinstall, or adjust, it is the industry’s only zero maintenance solution for
firestopping cables.
Triple S ® intumescent sealant
SpecSeal ® Triple S ® Intumescent Sealant features a patented two-stage
technology available only through STI. Our two-stage technology expands
quickly at its first stage and at a lower temperature than standard
grade sealants. Triple S ® is the only sealant that expands again for added
protection. This allows occupants additional time where “defend in
place” is needed. Made from partially recycled content, Triple S ® also
adds “Green” to your facility.
Pillows
Firestopping existing conditions can be challenging,
especially in older facilities. SpecSeal ®
firestop pillows are an easy-to-install, low labor firestop
solution even in mixed penetrant openings. They are easily
removed and reinstalled and offer low smoke ratings to boot!

Smoke ‘N‘ Sound
Smokewalls are a critical life safety component and need to be protected.
STI’s Smoke ‘N’ Sound gun grade and labor saving spray grade
provides smoke and acoustical protection in one product. It is an excellent
smoke seal and also reduces sound transmission for patient
privacy. Smoke ‘N’ Sound, when installed properly can also protect
occupants from dust particulates and provide infectious control.
The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, located in Baltimore, Maryland, has a long and distinguished
history of service and medical excellence. Founded in 1773, it is one of the oldest, continuous health
care systems on the East Coast. In December 2003, the Center was scheduled for an inspection by
the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO). Accreditation
by the Joint Commission is a nationwide seal of approval that indicates that an organization
meets high performance standards. One of the standards in the Environment of Care area
requires that any penetrations above the ceiling must be properly sealed in order to
maintain the integrity of the fire rated walls. Bayview received compliments
from their Joint Commission surveyor on their proactive approach with
regards to firestopping.
