<strong>Poster</strong> <strong>Presentation</strong> <strong>Guidelines</strong><br />

<strong>ISIE</strong>/<strong>Imaging</strong> CONFERENCE REGISTRATION:<br />

All presenters must register and pay the fees to attend the <strong>Conference</strong>. (<strong>ARVO</strong> Annual Meeting<br />

registration is separate.) Go to http://www.arvo.org/isie/ to register online. Reduced early-registration<br />

rates end Friday, March 29.<br />

POSTER SESSION HOURS:<br />

Saturday, May 4, <strong>2013</strong><br />

10:00 – 10:30am<br />

12:00 – 1:30pm<br />

3:30 – 4:00pm<br />

***You must have your poster mounted between 7:00 – 8:00am on Saturday, May 4***<br />

<strong>Poster</strong>s will be on display Saturday from 8am - 6pm. You must be at your poster during the session times<br />

designated above; please note, these times are concurrent with conference breaks.<br />

DISCLOSURES:<br />

First Authors must disclose any Commercial Relationships, including the name(s) of the firm(s) with<br />

which a commercial relationship exists, conflicts of interest, and/or patents or patent applications,<br />

associated with the abstract at the time of their presentation. Indicate None if applicable. All Commercial<br />

Relationships must be indicated on your poster. Additional Commercial Relationships that were not<br />

indicated at abstract submission must be disclosed at presentation. Please refer to the <strong>ARVO</strong> Commercial<br />

Relationships Policy for details.<br />

POSTERBOARD DIMENSIONS:<br />

The image area of the posterboard is 1.1 meters (3’8”) high by 1.7 meters (5’6”) wide. Materials,<br />

including the title, may not extend beyond the image area.<br />

Mounting: Do not use foam core or any thick or multi-layered materials. Do not use adhesives (glue,<br />

tape, spray adhesives, Velcro, etc.) directly on the posterboards. Push pins are available onsite.<br />

POSTER DESIGN:<br />

• Keep materials clear and concise.<br />

• Produce material that is legible from a distance of at least three feet.<br />

• Use large print and shade or color block letters when possible.<br />

• For legibility, a minimum font size of 28 points and a maximum of 600 words are recommended.<br />

• Avoid the use of blue-green and magenta-violet, which appear gray to your red-green color blind<br />

colleagues.<br />

• Avoid using red or green - up to 5% of the population is red-green color blind: Sample Use of<br />

Color Slides<br />

• Use a layout for your poster that follows the main headings used in your abstract, i.e., Purpose,<br />

Methods, Results, and Conclusion.<br />

• Use of the <strong>ARVO</strong> logo on your poster is prohibited.<br />

• Include your e-mail address on your poster to assist viewers to contact you later.<br />

• You may want to provide printouts of your poster as handouts.<br />

WITHDRAWAL POLICY:<br />

As First Author, you are scheduled to present your abstract. Changes in the presentation type, time,<br />

and location cannot be made. If you cannot present, you must withdraw by contacting the <strong>ARVO</strong> Office<br />

at isie@arvo.org to provide notification of your withdrawal. Notifications must be received no later than<br />

Thursday, May 2.


POSTER SESSION AV INFORMATION:<br />

If you require equipment for your poster presentation, such as electrical service or video equipment, you<br />

must contact conference management no later than April 12. Refer to the <strong>Poster</strong> A/V Request Order<br />

Form for details. Push pins will be available.<br />

POSTER PRINTING:<br />

<strong>Poster</strong> printing is the responsibility of the presenter and WILL NOT be available through <strong>ARVO</strong> this<br />

year. For your convenience, there is a FedEx/Kinko’s office located on the ground floor of the<br />

convention center.<br />

REMOVAL OF POSTER MATERIALS:<br />

<strong>Poster</strong>s must remain on display throughout the day. <strong>Poster</strong>s must be removed no later than 6:00pm on<br />

Saturday.<br />

<strong>Poster</strong>s remaining on the posterboards after 6:00pm will be removed and discarded. <strong>ARVO</strong> is not<br />

responsible for poster materials left behind.<br />
