How Practice-a-thon helps
children and young people with
cancer and their families
Groups and schools have raised over £900,000
so far through musical, singing and dance
events – and had a great time doing it!
300,000 young people have taken part in Practice-a-thon
events for CLIC Sargent since 2002. The money they’ve
raised has made a real difference to the lives of children
and young people with cancer, and their families.
Why you should get involved
in Practice-a-thon
Every day 10 children and young people in the UK
hear the shocking news they have cancer.
CLIC Sargent provides all-round care and support
for them, and their families, to help them cope with
cancer and get the most out of life.
Currently we’re not able to support all the children
and young people who need us, which is why
we’re asking you to participate in this year’s
Practice-a-thon to raise funds for our vital work.

How to join in the fun!
Step 1
Register for your free
fundraising pack, which
includes:
Event ideas
Sponsor forms
A fundraising
thermometer and poster
Press release and
publicity tips.
Step 3
Decide when to hold
your event
Most people arrange to
hold their event in term
time, but if the holidays
suit you better, feel free
to organise it then.
Step 4

Choose your event –
anything that involves
music, singing, dance …
or all three!
Sponsored practice –
why not work towards
exams or a concert?
Decide with your pupils
how long to practice for
(we suggest 20 minutes a
day but it can be more or
less), asking friends and
family to sponsor young
musicians and performers
for taking part!
Fundraising concert or
show – why not tie it in
with a Christmas concert,
‘Glee’ style show, or music
festival?

Start fundraising
Tell pupils all about
CLIC Sargent so they can
encourage people to dig
deep when asking for
sponsorship!
Give participants plenty of
time to get sponsored
Try raising money with
