Presidential Address
TMOD Address by TM Sonali
The SAA elect for 2015-16, TM Nawaf, made his debut before
the new TM term as SAA. TM Nawaf welcomed the gathering at
8:05 am. TM Nawaf read out the club mission and informed the
audience of the taboo topics to be avoided during the meeting
The SAA also thanked our gracious host for his generosity, TM
Dr. Shankar. Mabrook TM Nawaf! Great debut!
Soon our President will be passing on the baton to TM Saju, the
upcoming President of FOY and this could be felt in his
Presidential Address. The President shared his experience as a
President and gave advise to the new team with his usual
encouraging words. Our President mentioned that the new
team already had their first ‘unofficial’ Excom meeting which is
a great sign of leadership and service to the club. The President
then introduced the TMOD.
When TM Sonali takes up the TMOD role, one can be
sure that this will end up in a feast to the hears. The
TMOD introduced her theme ‘Hope’ sharing personal
stories of her friends who are ‘hoping’. TM Sonali made
a fantastic effort to keep the theme alive throughout the
meeting. All the role players were introduced with their
say on the theme. Amazing preparation!
Word Master
TM Aravind, as always, performed his role diligently. TM Aravind
introduced the word ‘Elixir’ which means a magical or medicinal potion,
a solution that cures the problem at hand.
A round robin section was conducted where five members used the
word. The TMOD used the word 3 times as reported by the grammarian.
Prepared Speeches Session
Adv. Project Entertaining Manual by TM Sashi
‘Corporate Lessons’ - TM Sashi surely picked the right Advanced
Manual. As a pure core entertainer, the speaker knows how to
turn any story into an entertaining one even if the moral of the
story turns into a corporate lesson like his advanced project.
‘Today if I do what others don’t, tomorrow I can do what others
can’t’ is the lesson we learned from the speaker taught via the
two main characters in his story, the dog and the donkey. We are
looking forward to his next projects from this manual.
Project 5 - Interpersonal Communication by TM Kiruba
‘Asserting yourself effectively’... TM Kiruba delivered an
interesting project from which all FOY members benefited The
speaker chose situations all can relate to and educated us on how
to approach such situations. The recommendation given by the
speaker can be applied to several scenarios: state the problem
then the impact (feeling), provide a solution and mention the
consequences if this problem is not solved. The speech required a
role play for which TM Kiruba chose TM Karthik Keyan (couldn’t
be a better choice for the role play). Thank you TM Kiruba for
selecting FOY to deliver your project!
Induction Ceremony
The induction ceremony was conducted by Area 66 Director
Elect, TM Wilson Lewis. The Area Director released the
current Excom from their duty (post June 30th). TM Wilson
followed the TMI protocol and read the responsibilities of
each Excom Role which each Excom member accepted. At
the end of the ceremony, the President Elect, TM Saju, gave
a brief speech on his plan for the upcoming TM year.
Evaluation Session headed by TM Karthik Keyan
Evaluation for Speech #1 by TM Don
TM Don was impressed by the amazing performance of the speaker. The
evaluator enjoyed the story and the moral of the story ‘today if do what
others don’t, tomorrow I can do what others can’t’ which means if we go the
extra mile, it pays off. Motivating and brilliant evaluation by TM Don!
Evaluation for Speech #2 by TM Murugesh
TM Murugesh appreciated the effort of the speaker and provided valuable
feedbacks to the advanced speaker. The evaluator confirmed that the speaker
had met the objectives of the project. For the evaluator, the interaction with
the audience was the most successful part of the speech. TM Murugesh
highlighted that the speaker has an instinct for perfection:) and that he could
let go a bit of this instinct. Fantastic evaluation!
