Clay Jensen receives a shoebox in front of his door and finds<br />
seven cassette tapes recorded by Hannah, who has recently<br />
committed suicide. As Clay listens to Hannah narrating<br />
about her pain and sadness, the conflicts start to arise.<br />
Climax:<br />
Hannah and Clay get a chance to talk to each other at the<br />
party. They kiss each other, but Hannah thinks about her<br />
past memories with boys and pushes Clay away. Clay regrets<br />
about that night because he had a chance to be a person who<br />
Hannah can rely on and Hannah becomes devastated.<br />
Eventually, this leads her to her suicide.<br />
Falling Action:<br />
Hannah gives herself one last chance and talks to Mr. Porter<br />
about committing a suicide. She wants to hear a solution in<br />
her life, but Mr. Porter tells her to move on. Hannah finds<br />
this pointless and decides to commit suicide by taking pills.<br />
Foreshadowing:<br />
At the end of the novel, Clay calls Skye’s name because<br />
she reminds him of Hannah. Last time he was with Hannah,<br />
he lost his chance with Hannah and let her commit suicide.<br />
This makes the readers to foreshadow future relationship<br />
with Clay and Skye. Clay is likely to make up to Skye the<br />
things he has not been able to do to Hannah.
