Aero Environmental and
formed Bradford White Canada Inc.
(BWC) BWC is a leading manufacturer
of gas and electric water heaters,

water heaters and associated
products. Bradford White Canada now
offers the most comprehensive line of
water heaters in Canada.
In July 2003, Bradford White introduced
its new Defender Safety System
flammable vapor ignition resistant gas
water heaters. The Defender Safety
System was developed in response to a
new ANSI Standard that required all
30, 40 and 50 gallon atmospheric gas
fired water heaters to include design
features and components that resist
ignition of flammable vapors outside
the water heaters.
The heart of the Defender Safety
System is the flame arrester design of
the patented ScreenLock technology. It
prevents the burner flame from traveling
outside of the combustion
chamber. The system is engineered to
be one of the safest, most reliable flammable
vapor ignition resistant system
in the industry.
This Standard has been adopted by
CSA and will be mandatory in Canada
on July 1, 2004. Bradford White Canada
is ready to supply water heaters with the
Defender Safety system to the Canadian
market.
