PROFESSOR OF GENERAL PRACTICE<br />

Professor Doris Young MB BS MD FRACGP is Professor <strong>and</strong> Chair of <strong>General</strong> <strong>Practice</strong> <strong>and</strong> Associate<br />

Dean, <strong>Academic</strong>, Faculty of Medicine Dentistry <strong>and</strong> <strong>Health</strong> Sciences. She is also the Director of Vocational<br />

Training program in the <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Centre</strong>. Doris is The University of Melbourne's representative on the<br />

Board of Victorian Metropolitan Alliance (VMA) for GP Training. She oversees the GP academic registrars<br />

program in the <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Centre</strong>.<br />

DIRECTOR, NEW CURRICULUM<br />

Dr Lena Sanci MB BS PhD DRANZCOG FRACGP is the Director of the <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Centre</strong>'s contribution to<br />

curriculum for the new graduate entry medical course, the MD. Her research interests are in young<br />

people's health in primary care <strong>and</strong> in trials of complex interventions in primary care. Current research in<br />

developing youth friendly practices has involved implementing <strong>and</strong> evaluating strategies for<br />

organisational change in primary care.<br />

DIRECTOR, UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS<br />

Dr Ruth McNair MB BS PhD DA DRANZCOG FRACGP is Director of Undergraduate Programs. Her<br />

research interests include lesbian health, lesbian parenting <strong>and</strong> inter-professional education. Ruth<br />

completed a PhD study in 2009 on the patient-doctor relationship between same-sex attracted women<br />

<strong>and</strong> GPs, supported by a NHMRC scholarship.<br />

DIRECTOR, RURAL UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS<br />

Reverend Dr Helen Malcolm MB BS MGPPsych DTM&H DTheol DA DCH DRANZCOG FRACGP is a<br />

senior lecturer at the Rural Clinical School in Shepparton <strong>and</strong> the <strong>General</strong> <strong>Practice</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Primary</strong> <strong>Health</strong><br />

<strong>Care</strong> <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Centre</strong>. She is also a practising GP <strong>and</strong> Anglican priest. Her main clinical interests are<br />

mental health, stress management, women's health, rural medicine <strong>and</strong> travel/tropical medicine. Her<br />

research interests are in mental health <strong>and</strong> stress management <strong>and</strong> medical education, especially in the<br />

rural context.<br />

SENIOR LECTURERS IN RURAL GENERAL PRACTICE<br />

Dr Gary Bourke MB BS<br />

DRANZCOG FACRRM is a rural GP<br />

in Bendigo who supports <strong>and</strong><br />

coordinates medical student<br />

education <strong>and</strong> Semester 12 clinical<br />

placements in central <strong>and</strong> northwest<br />

Victoria. Gary is interested in<br />

promoting the entry of Indigenous<br />

Australians into health <strong>and</strong> medical<br />

careers.<br />

Dr Iain Nicolson MB BS is a rural<br />

GP in Sale where he runs a busy<br />

general practice. Iain teaches <strong>and</strong><br />

coordinates Semester 12 clinical<br />

placements in the Gippsl<strong>and</strong> region<br />

<strong>and</strong> supervises academic registrars.<br />

His interests include occupational<br />

medicine <strong>and</strong> first aid training<br />

through St John Ambulance.<br />

Dr Rimas Liubinas MB BS<br />

DRACOG FRACGP is a rural GP<br />

located in Ballarat where he is<br />

responsible for supporting <strong>and</strong><br />

coordinating medical student<br />

education <strong>and</strong> Semester 12 clinical<br />

placements in the Victoria Felix<br />

region. His interests include<br />

acupuncture <strong>and</strong> sports medicine.<br />

Rimas is also a mentor for a local<br />

intern.<br />

Dr Rod Taylor MB BS MFamMed<br />

DRACOG is a GP located in Geelong<br />

where he teaches <strong>and</strong> coordinates<br />

medical student education <strong>and</strong><br />

Semester 12 clinical placements in<br />

the Barwon region.<br />
