Table 10 gives an indication <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> proportion <strong>of</strong> 15–64-year-olds who were asked if<br />
<strong>the</strong>y had ever been or currently were a smoker by a health care worker in <strong>the</strong> past<br />
12 months, by ethnic group.<br />

After adjusting for age, 15–64-year-old European/O<strong>the</strong>r and Māori were found to be<br />
significantly more likely than all 15–64-year-olds to report that <strong>the</strong>y had been asked if<br />
<strong>the</strong>y had ever been or currently were a smoker by a health care worker in <strong>the</strong> past<br />
12 months (Figure 45). Asian people were significantly less likely to have been asked<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir smoking status by a health care worker in <strong>the</strong> past 12 months than <strong>the</strong> total<br />
15–64-year-old population.<br />
After adjusting for age, <strong>the</strong>re was found to be no significant difference between<br />
15–64-year-old Pacific people and 15–64-year-olds in <strong>the</strong> total population in terms <strong>of</strong><br />
having being asked <strong>the</strong>ir smoking status by a health care worker in <strong>the</strong> past 12 months.<br />
