Theme One<br />

Define and Proclaim the <strong>Maryville</strong> <strong>University</strong> Story<br />

Goal One: Develop the brand and communicate the<br />

<strong>Maryville</strong> promise.<br />

a. Develop, design and test image and identity campaign.<br />

b. Complete and implement a <strong>University</strong> Integrated<br />

<strong>Mark</strong>eting Plan with identified audiences and messages<br />

to be delivered beginning with the 2007-2008<br />

academic year.<br />

c. Identify the promise of the university, illustrated<br />

through the stories of the institution and its people.<br />

d. Strengthen our presence on the Internet as the primary<br />

tool for delivering the <strong>Maryville</strong> <strong>University</strong> story.<br />

Goal Two: Develop a culture of communication that<br />

uses internal and external vehicles to inform,<br />

share stories and celebrate.<br />

a. Enhance the reputation of the university among<br />

external constituencies.<br />

b. Strengthen relationships with alumni to help them<br />

become informed and engaged members of the<br />

university community.<br />

c. Develop a public relations campaign for internal<br />

audiences.<br />

Theme Two<br />

Create an Engaging Campus Culture<br />

Goal Three: Promote faculty development focused on<br />

new pedagogies, externally peer reviewed<br />

scholarly<br />

activities, teaching excellence, the integration<br />

of liberal and professional learning, and<br />

assessment strategies.<br />

a. Develop and implement a plan that strengthens and<br />

promotes academic innovation.<br />

b. Enhance the Center for Teaching and Learning and<br />

create new centers, e.g. international education,<br />

first-year experience, to promote academic and student<br />

life.<br />

Goal Four: Enhance and sustain a vibrant campus and<br />

academic life for all constituencies.<br />

a. Increase the proportion of students taught by full<br />

time faculty.<br />

b. Increase partnerships that will enhance opportunities<br />

for students, faculty and staff to engage with<br />

the community.<br />

c. Strengthen the <strong>University</strong>’s commitment to diversity<br />

among faculty, students, staff and board members<br />

in order to achieve global awareness and cultural<br />

competence.<br />

d. Develop and implement a student-centered information<br />

technology plan.<br />

e. Develop and implement an international plan that<br />

distinguishes our liberal education experience and<br />

supports increased enrollment.<br />

f. Develop and implement an athletics plan that supports<br />

the enrollment plan.<br />

g. Augment existing student activity programs for all<br />

students.<br />
