Business Administration (BBA).<br />

Overview<br />

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is an integrated, multidisciplinary degree program.<br />

Compared to other undergraduate business programs which emphasize high level of specialization in<br />

business specific courses, this program’s principal strength is its combination of business, liberal arts<br />

and social science courses.<br />

Goals<br />

The primary goal of this program is to prepare students for effective professional and managerial<br />

careers in an increasingly global business environment by focusing on developing a well-balanced<br />

personality, strong business acumen, sensitivity to diverse cultural values amidst the challenges and<br />

advancement in the global business. More specifically, this program develops student’s capacity for<br />

critical thinking, ability in integrating knowledge across different disciplines, and utilizing current<br />

theory in approaching practical business problems. This is achieved by providing students <strong>with</strong><br />

knowledge in quantitative, analytical and communication skills, while grounding students in applied<br />

theory and practice across the major business management disciplines. Additional depth of knowledge is<br />

achieved through completion of specialized areas in related disciplines in International Business or<br />

International Economics. In the future other specialized disciplines such as Human Resource<br />

Management, Finance, and Marketing will also be offered.<br />

Objectives<br />

Specifically the BBA program seeks to:<br />

1. Equip students <strong>with</strong> skills and competencies in the core functional areas of business (i.e.,<br />

accounting, finance, marketing, operations management, and strategic management<br />

2. Expose students to the various concepts and theories in their chosen area of specialization<br />

such as International Business, International Economics, Human Resource Management,<br />

Finance, or Marketing to enable them understand the impact, interrelatedness and<br />

interdependencies of business environment<br />

3. Expose students to the economic theories and concepts which underpin many business decisions<br />

4. Inculcate in students noble values and sensitivity to diverse cultural dimensions of people of<br />

different backgrounds<br />

5. Develop students <strong>with</strong> effective interpersonal and communication skills as well as inculcate<br />

teamwork to enable them to effectively contribute toward group performance in the workplace<br />

6. Develop students <strong>with</strong> quantitative and analytical skills required for business analysis and<br />

research<br />

7. Develop students <strong>with</strong> specialized skills and competencies in a particular business disciplines<br />

(International Business, International Economics, Human Resource Management, Finance, or<br />

Marketing).<br />
