Cancer Surgery
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA
DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY
Surgery and the perioperative care of patients are crucial
components of many cancer treatments. At the University
of Arizona Department of Surgery, our surgeons are
nationally recognized for their outstanding surgical
skills and exceptional patient care. The department is at
the forefront of the latest surgical advances, including
minimally invasive, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted
procedures. We offer the highest degree of specialization
and experience in the surgical treatment of cancer,
including state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques.
The department is affiliated with University Medical
Center and the Arizona Cancer Center, one of only
a few institutions in the country to be designated a
Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer
Institute. Within a multidisciplinary framework, we
extensively discuss and carefully develop individualized
cancer treatment plans that draw on innovative surgical,
medical, and radiation treatment protocols. In addition,
qualified patients can enroll in clinical trials to assess
promising new cancer treatment regimens.
We work very closely with referring physicians,
partnering with them to integrate surgical and nonsurgical
therapies and to provide the most comprehensive
inpatient and outpatient clinical services.
Our focus is not only on finding a cure, but also on
preserving the best quality of life.
