The non-mover population accounts for 55.2<br />

percent of the population in urban areas and 63.5<br />

percent in rural settlements, with 4.8 percent of<br />

poor people living in towns while almost every<br />

ninth person in rural areas is poor (Graph 1).<br />

At the same time, 44.8 percent of the migrants<br />

live in towns, while slightly more than every third<br />

person in rural settlements is a migrant. The<br />

proportion of poor migrants living in rural<br />

settlements is 4.4 percent larger than poor migrants<br />

in urban settlements (Graph 2).<br />

Belgrade and Vojvodina have the smallest<br />

proportions of non-movers (53.9 percent and 57.4<br />

percent), while these proportions exceed 60 percent<br />

in other regions. Ranking the non-mover population<br />

according to the proportion of the poor, Belgrade<br />

(with 2.7 percent) and Sumadija (with 3.4 percent)<br />

stand out with the lowest percentage of the poor.<br />
