The evidence for quality is demonstrated in the justification, objectives, parameters, procedures, documentation and register requirements for each indicator. 3.2 b The Standard specifies practices to maintain productive capacity of plantation forests during planting (regeneration), tending and harvesting activities with aim of reducing damage to retained stands and soil and water resources. 3.2 c Standard requires owners’ commitment to practice sustainable forestry, incorporating both wood and non-wood forest products. The Standard requires optimum commercial use of harvested forest products. The Standard requires the use of species and varieties appropriate to site with an evaluation of the impact of species (variety) on the ecosystems and genetic integrity of native species. 4.2 b The Standard requires an account, for each site, of the origins of species (and varieties) with goal of identifying appropriate species as well as “the impact on the ecosystems and genetic integrity of the native species and local origins”. 4.2 c The Standard requires forest management practices to increase the genetic, species and structural diversity of natural ecosystems. 4.2 d The Standard requires that the traditional management systems and knowledge associated with the use of forests by local communities and other interested parties must be considered and respected in forest management practices.
