Una muchacha estaba en una sala de espera en un
aeropuerto. Ella debía esperar por horas, decidió
comprar un libro para matar el tiempo. También
compro un paquete de galletas. Se sentó en un asiento
en la sala VIP del aeropuerto para poder descansar y leer
en paz. Al lado del asiento donde estaba la bolsa de
galletas se sentó un hombre que abrió una revista y
comenzó a leer. Cuando ella tomo la primera galleta, el
hombre también tomo una. Ella se sintió indignada, pero
no dijo nada. Apenas pensó: "pero, que descarado, si yo
estuviese mas dispuesta la daría un golpe en el ojo para
que nunca mas se le olvide". Cada vez que ella tomaba
una galleta, el hombre también tomaba una. Aquello la
dejaba tan indignada que no conseguía reaccionar.
Cuando quedaba apenas una galleta, pensó: "ah... que
será lo que este abusador va a hacer ahora?". Entonces el
hombre dividió la ultima galleta por la mitad, dejando la
otra mitad para ella. Ah!! aquello era demasiado! se
puso a bufar de la rabia! Entonces cerro su libro y sus
cosas y se dirigió al sitio de embarque. Cuando se sentó,
confortablemente, en su asiento, ya en el interior del
avión, miro dentro de la bolsa y para su sorpresa su
paquete de galletas estaba allí... todavía intacto,
cerradito!! Sintió tanta vergüenza. Solo entonces percibió
lo equivocada que estaba, había olvidado que sus
galletas estaban guardadas dentro de su bolsa!!
El hombre había compartido sus galletas sin sentirse
indignado, nervioso, consternado o alterado, mientras
ella quedo muy trastornada, pensando que estaba
compartiendo las de ella con él.
Y ya no había mas tiempo para explicaciones...
ni para pedir disculpas.
Cuantas veces, en nuestras vidas, estamos comiendo las
galletas de los demás, y no somos conscientes de ellos?.
Antes de llegar a una conclusión... observa mejor!!
Tal vez las cosas no sean exactamente como piensas,
no pienses lo que no sabes acerca de las personas.

A girl was in a waiting room at an airport. She was going
to be waiting for hours and, decided to buy a book to kill
time. She also bought a packet of cookies. She sat on a
seat in the VIP airport lounge to relax and read in peace.
Beside the seat where the bag of cookies was a man who
opened a magazine, sat and started reading. When she
took the first cookie, the man also took a cookie. She was
indignant, but said nothing. Just thought, "how bold, if I
were more willing I would give him a blow to the eye so
he would never forget it." Whenever she took a cookie,
the man also took one. That left her so angry that she
could not react. When there was only one cookie left, she
thought, "ah ... what will this abuser do now?". Then the
man divided the last cookie in half, leaving the other half
for her. Ah !! this was too much! She began to snort of
rage! Then he closed his book and his things and headed
to the place of shipment. When she sat comfortably in her
seat inside the plane, She looked in the bag and to her
surprise her packet of cookies was there ... still intact,
sealed!! She felt so ashamed. Only then she saw how
wrong she was, she had forgotten that her cookies were
kept inside her bag !! The man had shared his cookies
without feeling angry, nervous, shocked or disturbed
while she remained very upset,
thinking she was sharing it with him.
And there was no more time to explain ...
nor to apologize.
How many times in our lives, we are eating
cookies from others, and we are not aware of it?.
Before reaching a conclusion ... observe better !!
Maybe things are not exactly as you think,
do not think what you do not know about people.

A los niños pequeños les es muy difícil controlar
sus emociones. Cuando se sientes frustrados o
furiosos, lloran, gritan o tiran patadas fuertes
contra el piso. Esto es un berrinche.
Estas rabietas son una parte normal del
desarrollo del niño. Suelen comenzar entre los 12
y 18 meses de edad y empeoran entre los 2
y 3 años. Los berrinches van desapareciendo
cuando los niños aprenden a usar mejor las
palabras para comunicarse.

Mantenga la calma. La ola gigantesca de
emociones pasará. No se hunda en ella ni
forme parte de la tormenta.
Dele un abrazo al niño o cárguelo.
A veces ayuda darles un abrazo apretado.
Vaya a un lugar tranquilo. Cambie de
habitación. Cambie de escenario. Salga
del lugar si es posible.
Ignore el berrinche pero no se aleje.
Deje que se canse. Luego bríndele su
apoyo. Cambie de actividad.
Sugiera algo nuevo.

WHAT ARE
TANTRUMS?
Young children have a hard time
controlling their emotions. When
they get frustrated or angry they cry,
scream or throw strong kicks against
the floor. This is a tantrum.
These tantrums are a normal part of
child development. They usually start
between 12 and 18 months of age
and worse between 2 and 3 years.
Tantrums disappear when children
learn to use words to communicate.
5 TANTRUM TIPS
Keep Calm. The tidal wave of
emotions will pass. Do not sink into it or
be apart of the storm.
Give the child a hug or carry him/her.
Sometimes it helps to give them a tight hug.
Go to a quiet place. switch
rooms. Change the scenery. Leave the area
if possible.
Ignore the tantrum but do not stray.
Let them get tired. Then give your child
support. Change the activity.
Suggest something new.

El tigre, como huella dactilar, el patrón de
rayas es único en cada ejemplar, marcado
desde su piel, es útil como camuflaje para
ocultarse de sus presas. Tienen cierta visión
del color y su visión nocturna es muy
aguda, pero no puede captar animales sin
movimiento. Pero con su sentido del oído
logra detectar leves sonidos a su alrededor.
Los tigres adultos son capaces de dar saltos
de hasta 5 metros de altura, o de 9 o 10 m de
longitud, lo que lo convierte en uno de los
mamíferos que más alto pueden saltar.
No soportan la presencia de otros machos
en su territorio. Pero las hembras siempre son
bienvenidas, de hecho bastantes caballerosos
llegan al punto de compartir una presa e
incluso alimentarse después que la hembra.
Pueden matar a un rumiante adulto de un solo
golpe debido a sus grandes garras combinadas
con la fuerza que puede utilizar para golpear.
Pero su gran tamaño, no limitan su velocidad
pues los tigres pueden alcanzar velocidades
de hasta 90 km/h. Su rugido contiene ondas
que logran tener efectos aterrorizantes
y paralizantes.

Cristóbal Colón nació
en Génova (Italia) en
1451. Sus padres fueron
Doménico Colombo y
Susana Fontanarrosa.
En su juventud sintió
afición por la vida
marina y trabajó en la
navegación mercante
en el Mar Mediterráneo.
En 1476 llegó al
Portugal donde se casó con
Felipa Muñiz y tuvo un
hijo llamado Diego.
En Portugal se incorporó a
diversas expediciones por
las costas occidentales de
África. Por esos años concibió
el proyecto de buscar una ruta
marítima hacia la China y la India
cruzando el Océano Atlántico,
creyendo que era un "mar estrecho".
Al no conseguir apoyo del rey Juan II de
Portugal, se marchó a España. Al llegar a
Córdoba conoció a Beatriz Enríquez de Arana, quien le
dio un segundo hijo, Bartolomé.
En 1492 consiguió la ayuda de la reina Isabel de Castilla.
Después de firmar la Capitulación de Santa Fe
(17 de abril de 1492) organizó su expedición en busca del
Lejano Oriente navegando por Occidente. En su primer
viaje llegó a la isla Guanahaní (12 de octubre de 1492)
y la llamó San Salvador, exploró la isla de Cuba a la
que nombró Juana, y llegó a la isla de Santo Domingo
a la que bautizó como La Española. Retornó a España
creyendo haber llegado a islas cercanas al continente
asiático. Colón hizo tres expediciones más: en su
segundo viaje exploró las Pequeñas Antillas, Puerto
Rico y Jamaica; en el tercero descubrió la isla Trinidad y
la desembocadura del río Orinoco; en el cuarto conoció
las costas de América Central. Hasta el fin de sus días
Cristóbal Colón insistió en haber llegado a tierras del
continente asiático.
Murió en Valladolid el 20 de mayo de 1506, sin saber
que había iniciado el Descubrimiento de América.

Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa (Italy) in
1451. His parents were Domenico Colombo and Susanna
Fontanarrosa. In his youth he felt passion for marine life
and worked in the merchant shipping in the
Mediterranean Sea.
In 1476 he came to Portugal where he married Felipa
Muñiz and had a son named Diego. In Portugal he
joined several expeditions to the west coast of Africa.
By that time he conceived the project of finding a sea
route to China and India across the Atlantic Ocean,
believing it was a "narrow sea". By failing to receive
support from King John II of Portugal, he went to Spain.
Arriving in Cordoba he met Beatriz, who gave him a
second son, Bartholomew. In 1492 he enlisted the help of
Queen Isabel of Castile. After signing the capitulation
of Santa Fe (17 April 1492) he organized his expedition
in search of the Far East by sailing West. On his first trip
he came to the island Guanahani (October 12, 1492)
and named San Salvador, explored the island of Cuba
which he named Juana, and reached the island of
Santo Domingo to which he dubbed the Spanish.
He returned to Spain believing he arrived to islands
near the Asian continent. Columbus made three
expeditions on his second voyage he explored the Lesser
Antilles, Puerto Rico and Jamaica; in the third he
discovered the island of Trinidad and the mouth of the
Orinoco River; in the fourth he met the coasts of Central
America. Until the end of his days Columbus insisted
on having reached lands of Asia.
He died in Valladolid on May 20, 1506, unaware that
he had initiated the Discovery of America.

Yesenia Márquez, modelo, deportista,
voluntaria, estudiante sobresaliente,
involucrada fuertemente en nuestra
comunidad, participante en varios
certámenes de belleza, y ganadora de
algunos, realmente ella nos muestra
a su corta edad, que es una chica
ejemplar bella por fuera y por dentro.
Ella nos comparte lo siguiente: nací
en noviembre 28,1998, en Salinas Ca.
en el hospital memorial, mis padres
son Aristeo y Amalia Márquez tengo 3
hermanos: Ernesto, Kimberly, Erwin
Márquez de mi niñez, recuerdo que
cada año en diciembre por costumbre
nos íbamos a México a visitar a mis
familiares, cuando llegábamos
después de 2 días en el camino
llegábamos con la virgencita de San
Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco a darle
gracias por darnos la dicha de llegar
bien, estando en México mis papas
me llevaban a la plaza en donde yo
me acuerdo que corría alrededor de la
fuente mientras comía helado viendo
las presentaciones que se daban en
la plaza como personas que bailaban
vestidos de viejitos, o el baile del toro
donde alguien se vestía de toro y
actuaban mientras bailaban, y así poco
a poco recuerdo desde mi infancia
como fui también aprendiendo
d e m i c u l t u r a .
Cuando le preguntamos a donde
estudio nos dijo: en la primaria fui a
Castroville Elementary School, en la
secundaria asistí a North Monterey
County Middle School, y preparatoria
la terminare en North Monterey County
H i g h S c h o o l .
Y e s e n ia Márquez,
destaca en la sociedad
por su sencillez,
amabilidad y alegría,
pero lo que mas nos
sorprende de ella, es ese afán de
ayudar al prójimo. Ella misma nos
explica: Soy voluntaria en la
comunidad, por mi iglesia y diferentes
eventos como el Relay for Life,
(cáncer), La Cena del Jamón,
Retiros para niños, también ayudando
de mesera para cenas o reuniones
importantes en donde se discuten
diferentes temas de la comunidad.
Hoy en día sigo en la preparatoria de
NC estudiando y en donde estoy
involucrada en el equipo de futbol,
link crew, girls inc, y soy parte del
programa migrante (me dieron la
oportunidad de ir a la universidad de
Minnesota, y a Fresno State para
estudiar durante el verano).
Mi próxima meta es graduarme de NC
y entrar a la universidad para estudiar
y sobresalir en la vida y poder
a y u d a r l e s a m i s p a d r e s .
También ella nos cuenta sobre sus
participaciones: Spelling Bee Finals,
Miss Teenager 2014, (ella fue
ganadora por el voto del publico como
Miss Popular) Speech and Debate
( R e g i o n a l a n d S t a t e ) ,
A u th o r s a n d I dea s F e s t ival.
Pero aunque Yesenia Márquez
a logrado destacar en sus objetivos,
ella como todos a atravesado
problemas difíciles en su vida como
n o s c u e n t a a c o n t i n u a c i ó n :
Mis mayores obstáculos han sido,
cuando yo estaba chica mis doctores
me diagnosticaron algo en mis oídos,
en la cual me tuvieron que hacer 4
cirugías para poder oír bien, otro
doloroso obstáculo fue cuando tuve
que ver a mi madre sufrir por el
cáncer que le diagnosticaron, mas aun
porque, ella mi madre es mi mayor
motivación y admiro a mis abuelos por
todo lo que hicieron por sus hijos y
nunca darse por vencidos, porque
cruzaron lo que se les puso en su
camino cuando estaban menores
o d e m i e d a d .
Esta inteligente joven cuando le
preguntamos que consejo le das a
nuestra comunidad ella nos dijo:
Un consejo que yo le daría a la
comunidad es que nunca se den por
vencidos aunque a veces la gente dice
que no lo podrás lograr o sean

Yesenia Márquez nos comprueba
como todo se puede lograr con, animo,
perseverancia y disciplina. A pesar de
estos tiempos tan confusos para los
jóvenes, esto también es un llamado
para todos ya que existen tantos
lugares donde se puede usar el tiempo
positivamente como voluntarios esto
es un beneficio recíproco. Tengamos
esperanza y sigamos adelante existen
tanto programas de ayuda y servicios
sociales de apoyo usémoslos y
salgamos de ese rincón, realmente
lo que Yesenia hace es grandioso.
Por todo lo anterior es un honor
para Paloma Revista felicitarla y
a g r a d e c e r l e s u e x c e l e n t e
comportamiento, por su ejemplo, sus

Yesenia Marquez, model, athlete,
volunteer, outstanding student,
heavily involved in our community,
participating in several beauty
contests, winning some besides
being already in reality she shows
us at her young age, she's a girl
exemplary beautiful inside and out.
She shares with us the
following: I was born November 28
1998 in Salinas Ca. at
t h e m e m o r i a l
hospital, my parents are

Marquez. I have 2
brothers and 1 sister:
Ernest, Kimberly, Erwin Márquez my
childhood, I remember every year in
December we went to Mexico to visit
family, when we arrived after two
days on the road we went to the
Virgin of San Juan de los Lagos,
Jalisco to thank her for giving us the
joy of arriving well, in Mexico my
parents took me to the plaza where
I remember running around the
fountain while eating ice cream
watching the presentations that were
given, people dancing dressed as old
people, or the dance of the bull
where someone dressed like a bull
and acted as they danced, and little
by little I was also learning about my
culture.
When asked where she studied,
she told us, in Elementary I went to
Castroville Elementary School, in high
school I attended North Monterey
County Middle School, and I will soon
finish at North Monterey County High
School.
Yesenia Marquez stands out in
society for her simplicity, kindness
and joy, but what surprised us more
about her is her desire to help others.
She herself explains: I volunteer in
the community, my church and
different events like Relay for Life,
(cancer) Ham Dinner, Retreats for
children, also helping waitress for
dinners or important meetings where
we discuss different community
issues. Today I am still in high school
in NC studying and I am
involved in the football team, link
crew, girls inc, and I am part of the
migrant program (I have been given
the opportunity to go to the University
of Minnesota, and Fresno State to
study during the summer). My next
goal is to graduate from NC and go to
college to study and excel in life and
to help my parents.
She also tells us about her

Yesenia Marquez who
managed to excel with

tells us about them below: My biggest
obstacles have been when I was girl
my doctors diagnosed me with
something in my ears, which I had 4
surgeries for, to hear well, another
painful obstacle was when I had to
see my mother suffering from cancer,
but also because my mother is my
biggest motivation and I admire my
grandparents for everything they did
for their children and for never giving
up, because they overcame all obstacles
when they were my age or younger.
This smart young lady when asked
what advice would you give to our
community she told us: One tip I
would give the community is to never
give up though sometimes people say
you can not do something or are
negative just show them you can
because a lion does not worry about
the opinions of the sheep, be the lion
and show how strong you are. Finally
she affirms, my inspiration has
always been Cesar Chavez because
as he said yes you can!.
Yesenia Marquez has proven to
us that everything can be achieved
with, encouragement, perseverance
and discipline. Despite her very
confusing young age, this is
also a call for everyone as there are
many places where you can spend
time positively as volunteers, this is
a mutual benefit. Let us hope and
move on there are so many
assistance programs and supporting
social services. We should use them

Iglesia El Rosario
(Costa Rica)
Esta Iglesia ubicada en
Naranjo Costa Rica, es un
temple católico llamado El
Rosario, donde continúan las
tradiciones cristianas, bella
Iglesia humilde, bella y
colorida. En la época
Precolombina el territorio
que actualmente
corresponde al cantón de
Naranjo, estuvo habitado
por indígenas del llamado
Reino Huetar de Occidente,
que en los inicios de la
conquista fue dominio del
cacique Garavito. El primer
colonizador que llegó a la
región en 1833, fue don Judas
Tadeo Sáenz; quien dos años
después obtuvo título de
propiedad de los terrenos
que había presentado
formal denuncio, en el sitio
que él denominó Los
Naranjos, en Poás,
jurisdicción de Alajuela.
Posteriormente, se construyó
una ermita. En 1869 don
Manuel Mora y Fernández
donó dos manzanas de
terreno, una para la
construcción de la iglesia y la
otra para una plaza pública.

colorful church. In
pre-Columbian times the

PADRE NUESTRO
- ¿No te ha pasado muchas veces que no
sabes como hablar con Dios Nuestro
Señor, se te dificulta ¨ORAR¨
y no encuentras qué decirle?
- Los discípulos habían visto cómo Cristo
le rezaba a su Padre y le pidieron que les
enseñara a ellos también a rezar.
Jesús les dijo: Cuando oren, digan:
PADRE NUESTRO QUE ESTÁS EN EL CIELO,
SANTIFICADO SEA TU NOMBRE, VENGA A
NOSOTROS TU REINO, HÁGASE TU
VOLUNTAD ASÍ EN LA TIERRA COMO EN EL
CIELO,DANOS HOY NUESTRO PAN DE CADA
DÍA, PERDONA NUESTRAS OFENSAS COMO
NOSOTROS PERDONAMOS A LOS QUE NOS
OFENDEN, NO NOS DEJES CAER EN
TENTACIÓN, Y LÍBRANOS DEL MAL.
Es una oración muy sencilla, pero
con un significado muy grande.
Vamos a tratar de explicarte qué
significa cada cosa que dices:
*PADRE NUESTRO QUE ESTÁS EN EL CIELO,
Al rezar el Padre Nuestro, Dios quiso
que le llamaras con el dulce nombre de
PADRE, te das cuenta de cuanto te ama
Dios, que no quiere que le llames creador
sino Padre... el Padre te ama sin
condiciones y sin límites.
- ¡ Basta para ser feliz, el saber que eres
hijo amado de Dios Padre! Sin embargo,
no basta con llamar Padre a Dios, hay
que demostrarle tu amor de hijo.
¿Y cómo haces esto? Pues, obedeciendo
sus mandamientos y amándole más que
a cualquier otra cosa o persona.
*SANTIFICADO SEA TU NOMBRE
- Cuando quieres a una persona buscas
que todos le conozcan y le quieran como
tú. Al decirle a Dios ¨Santificado sea tu
Nombre, estás diciendo que lo amas y
lo respetas, y que por tanto nunca
permitirás que otros le ofendan o falten
al respeto. Al decir Santificado sea tu
Nombre también le dices a Dios que
quieres agradarle en todo, o sea, hacer
lo que El quiera y no lo que a ti se te antoja.
*VENGA A NOSOTROS TU REINO
- ¨Vivir según su Reino¨ es vivir de la
forma en que Dios quiere, de la forma en
que Cristo nos enseño en el Evangelio.
- Al decir ¨Venga a nosotros tu Reino¨,
le pides que siempre se viva en las
familias y los pueblos el amor, la paz,
la ayuda, la amistad, y no la guerra,
la envidia, la violencia, y la maldad.
*HÁGASE TU VOLUNTAD ASÍ EN LA
TIERRA COMO EN EL CIELO
- ¿ Quién mejor que el padre para saber
que es lo mejor para el hijo ? Al decir
hágase tu voluntad, le dices a Dios que
aceptarás con conformidad y alegría lo
que El permita que suceda en tu vida,
(aunque algunas veces no lo
entiendas, no te guste o te duela).
- Dios te ama infinitamente y lo único
que quiere es que logres salvarte y llegar
al cielo. Cualquier cosa que permita que
suceda en tu vida, lo hace porque sabe
que es bueno para tu camino de
salvación. Así es que, abandónate con
confianza plena en manos del Padre,
que El sabe lo que te conviene
para poder llegar al cielo.
*DANOS HOY NUESTRO PAN DE CADA DÍA
- Aquí le pides a Dios dos cosas :
A) Que te ayude a poder tener el
alimento del cuerpo: la comida.
Fíjate que no dices mi pan, sino
NUESTRO pan, y con eso pides que todos
tus hermanos del mundo lo tengan
B) Le pides también que te permita
seguir recibiendo la COMUNIÓN, pues
así como necesitas alimentar tu cuerpo,
así la comunión es el alimento del alma
y le da fuerzas a tu espíritu. Cada vez
que comulgas Cristo mismo es quien
entra a tu alma.- Cristo nos dejo la
¨LA CONFESIÓN, como un medio para
conseguir el perdón de Dios.
- Aprovecha cuando veas al Sacerdote
y pídele que te confiese. Pero es
importante que de verdad estés
arrepentido de haber desobedecido a
Dios y que tengas el propósito de
NO volver a hacer ese pecado.
- Si estás sin pecado, vivirás tranquilo,
sin remordimientos, en paz, en amistad
con Dios.- Al mismo tiempo que le pides
perdón, prometes a Dios que tú vas a
perdonar al que te ofendió, te critico,
te golpeo, te robo.- No llenes tu corazón
y tu mente, de resentimientos, de odio,
de venganza, llénalo de perdón, de
disculpa, de amor. - Cristo dice en el
Evangelio : De la manera en que
tú perdones a los demás, de esa
manera te perdonará Dios a ti.
*NO NOS DEJES CAER EN TENTACIÓN
Y LÍBRANOS DEL MAL
Con estas palabras le pides a Dios
¨LA FUERZA¨ necesaria para decirle
NO al demonio que te invita, de una
manera muy sutil, a ser flojo, a decir
una mentira, a pegarle a un hijo,
a tratar mal al esposo o a la esposa,
a ser infiel, a emborracharte,
a chismear, a robar etc...
- Entonces decir Líbranos del mal¨
sería más bien ¨Señor, líbrame del
pecado, líbrame de morir en él,
líbrame de ofenderte, haz que siempre
te ame, te sirva y pueda un día
gozarte por siempre en el cielo ¨.
- Fíjate en algo hermosísimo: el PADRE
NUESTRO lo rezamos no en singular
(Padre mío que estás en el cielo....
perdona mis ofensas....) sino en plural
( Padre Nuestro... líbranos del mal...).
Jesús nos lo enseñó así porque quiere
que a la vez que piensas en ti mismo
al rezarlo, pienses también en todos
tus hermanos del mundo.
- Como ves, el PADRE NUESTRO
es una oración preciosa, que nos
llena de tranquilidad al rezarla,
pues sabemos que nuestro Padre
NOS ESCUCHA.
PROPÓSITO DE ESTE MES:
El propósito de este mes será rezar
todas las noches un Padre Nuestro
pensando bien cada frase que dices
y enseñarlo a tus hijos y a aquellos
que no lo conocen.

OUR FATHER
- Has It ever happened to you that you

It is a very simple prayer, but with a big
meaning. We will try to explain what
each thing you said means:
*OUR FATHER WHO ART IN HEAVEN,
While we pray the Our Father, God
wanted to be called by the sweet
name of Father, you realize how much
God loves you, that he does not want
to be called the creator he wants you
to call him Father ...Fathers love you
unconditionally and without limits.

Christ taught us in the Gospel.
- By saying Thy kingdom, you ask him
to always live in families and peoples
love, peace, support, friendship, and
not war, envy, violence, or evil.
* THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH
AS WELL AS IN THE SKY
- Who better than the parent to know
what is best for the child? By saying
thy will be done on earth as well as in
the sky, you tell God that you will
accept with joy and compliance what
He allows to happen in your life,
(although sometimes you do not
understand, you do not like it or hurts).
God loves you infinitely and all he
want is you to achieve salvation and
go to heaven. Anything that he allows
to happen in your life, he does
because he knows it's good for you,
your way to salvation. So, abandon
yourself with confidence in the hands
of the Father, He knows what's good
for you to get to heaven.
* GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD
- Here you ask God for two things:
A) That he help you to have food
for the body: food. Note that you do
not say my bread, but OUR bread,
and therefore ask that all your
brothers of the world have it also B)
We also ask that he allows you to
continue to receive Communion, as
well as you need to feed your body,
communion is food for the soul
and gives strength to your spirit.
Whenever you have the body of
Christ, Christ himself comes to your
soul. - Christ left us the confession,
as a means to God's forgiveness.
- Take advantage when you see the
priest and ask him to confess you.

sorry for having disobeyed God

- If you are without sin, you will live

- Do not fill your heart and mind with,
resentment, hatred, revenge,
fill it with forgiveness, apology, love.
- Christ says in the Gospel:
From the way you forgive others,
like that God will forgive you.
*LET US NOT FALL INTO TEMPTATION
AND DELIVER US FROM EVIL
With these words you ask God for the
strength needed to say NO to the
demon that invites you in a very
subtle way, to be lazy, to tell a lie,
to hit a child, to mistreat the husband
or the wife, to be unfaithful, to get
drunk, gossip, steal etc ...
- Then to say Deliver us from evil can
also be said: deliver me from sin,
save me from dying in it, deliver
me from offending you, make me always
love you, serve you and one
day enjoy you forever in heaven.
- Look at something very beautiful:
the Our Father we pray not singular
(my Father who art in heaven ....
forgive my sins ....) but plural (Our
Father ... deliver us from evil ...) .
Jesus taught us this way because he
wants you to think about your
brothers and sisters while you think
about yourself.
- As you see, the OUR FATHER
is a beautiful prayer that fills
us with peace of mind to
pray it, because we know
that our Father HEARS US.
PURPOSE OF THIS MONTH:
The purpose of this month will
pray every night thinking well the
Our Father every sentence you say
and teach it to your children and
those who do not know.

Consejos para solicitar una visa a padres de familia
El proceso de solicitar visa a un padre de familia podría resultar
costoso y frustrante, especialmente cuando la visa es negada
después de haber esperado mucho tiempo. La información
presentada aquí está basada en una experiencia personal, la
cual espero pueda ayudar a las personas que estén pensando
solicitar una visa para un ser querido. Es importante saber que
las visas que otorga el consulado estadounidense están dividas
en visas para inmigrantes y visas para no inmigrantes. Las visas
para inmigrantes son otorgadas a personas que desean vivir
permanentemente en los Estados Unidos. Las visas para no
inmigrantes son otorgadas a personas que deseen vivir en los
Estados Unidos temporalmente. El proceso para las visas para
no inmigrantes es mucho más rápido y más fácil, puesto que las
personas no tienen que pasar por el examen médico, el cual
podría resultar costoso. En mi caso, decidí solicitar una visa de
inmigrante para mi madre porque somos cinco hermanos
viviendo en cuatro diferentes lugares y queríamos que
compartiera tiempo con cada uno de nosotros. El proceso de
llenar la solicitud lo hice yo mismo porque he vivido 28 años en
los Estados Unidos y domino bien el inglés. El costo total de la
solicitud fue de aproximadamente $800 y duré casi dos años
en recibir una cita ante el consulado de Ciudad Juárez. El costo
será el doble si el solicitante decide pedir a dos personas y así
sucesivamente. Esto no incluye los servicios del abogado
porque en mi caso no los necesité. Cuando finalmente se
consigue la cita, es importante llegar a ciudad Juárez con dos
días antes de la entrevista porque hay dos cosas importantes
que se tienen que hacer: las huellas y el examen médico.
La cita para las huellas y las fotos
se hace, por lo menos, una
semana antes por Internet.
El examen médico no requiere
de una cita porque existen tres
clínicas muy cerca, las cuales
compiten por ofrecer este servicio.
El costo del examen médico
es de aproximadamente $400.
Todos estos servicios están junto
a las oficinas del consulado
estadounidense. Los hoteles también están localizados
relativamente cerca a las oficinas del consulado. El costo del
hotel más barato es de $58 dólares por noche, pero puede
subir dependiendo de la demanda y del hotel. Existen también
casas de hospedaje, las cuales son mucho más baratas en
comparación con los hoteles. Estas casas ofrecen trasporte a
las citas y algunas ofrecen las tres comidas. Los dueños de las
casas de hospedaje son ciudadanos juarenses que conocen
bastante bien el proceso de inmigración y muchos de ellos
obtienen su sueldo semanal proveyendo este servicio.
Las casas de hospedaje son sin lugar a duda una competencia
para los hoteles. Yo y mi madre nos quedamos 6 días en una
casa de hospedaje, la cual nos cobró $35 dólares por noche.
Una de las razones por la cual nos quedamos seis días es
porque mi madre de 70 años de edad no pasó el examen
médico. De hecho, muchas personas de edad avanzada no
pasan el examen de rayos X porque han sido expuestas al humo
del cigarro o al humo de la leña. Mi madre había cocinado toda
su vida con leña y su radiografía mostró manchas negras.
Este día, en esta clínica, cerca a 30 personas adultas salieron
con manchas negras en sus pulmones. A todas estas personas
se les recomienda quedarse tres días para que provean flemas
y de esta manera descartar cualquier enfermedad cancerosa o
tuberculosa. Las personas que no pasan el examen médico no
pueden ingresar al país y los resultados de las flemas son
comunicados en dos meses a través de una llamada telefónica.
Si los resultados resultan negativos, las personas pueden volver
hacer una cita con inmigración. Si los resultados resultan
positivos, las personas tienen que seguir las instrucciones que
provea el doctor. Muchas personas que no pasan el examen
médico pueden fácilmente caer en una depresión. Es muy
notable la tristeza o felicidad en sus caras cuando se les
comunica los resultados del examen médico. Para los que no
pasan, las esperanzas chocan contra la imposibilidad de estar
con sus hijos, quienes habían invertido tiempo y dinero en este
proceso de inmigración.

The Process for an Immigration Visa for a Parent
The process of applying for a Visa for a parent can be very
expensive and frustrating, especially when the Visa is denied
after waiting a very long time. The information presented in this
story is based on a personal experience; something I hope will
help if you are thinking about applying for a Visa for one or both
parents. It is important to know that there are two different
types of Visas given by the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez; an
Immigrant Visa and a Non-Immigrant Visa. The Visas for
Immigrants are given to people who desire to live in the United
States permanently. The Non-Immigrant Visas are given to
people who desire to live in the United States on a temporary
basis. The process for the Non-Immigrant Visas is faster, easier,
and less expensive since there is no medical exam required for
this application. In my own personal experience, I decided to
apply for an Immigrant Visa for my mother because I have five
brothers and sisters living in different parts of the U.S. and we
wanted her to spend time with each one of us. I did the process
of filling out the forms because I have lived in the U.S. for 28
years and I can speak and read English. The amount of money
spent to apply for a Visa was approximately $800 and I waited
nearly two years to receive an appointment in Ciudad Juarez.
The cost would have been double if I would have applied for two
people. Finally, when you are scheduled an appointment, it is
important to arrive in Ciudad Juarez two days before to the
actual appointment because there are two very important
requirements that have to be met before the appointment.
You will need fingerprints and a medical examination. The
appointment for the fingerprints and the photographs are
scheduled on the Internet
one-week prior to the actual
date of the appointment.
The medical exam does not

appointment because there
are three health clinics near
the U.S. Consulate office
c o m p e t i n g f o r y o u r
business. The cost for a
m e d i c a l e x a m i s
approximately $400. All of these services are located near the
U.S. Consulate offices. The hotels are also located relatively
close to the consulate offices. The cost of the cheapest hotel
will run you about $58 U.S. dollars per night, but the price can

mother did not pass her medical exam. Many people who are
advanced in age do not pass the X-Ray for various reasons, but
mainly due to second hand smoke or exposure to wood smoke.
My mom spent her entire life cooking with wood, and her
X-Ray’s showed dark spots on her lungs. On this day, about 30
adults were turned away due to black spots on their lungs.
It is recommended that if dark spots are seen on your lungs, to
stay an extra three consecutive days to have your saliva tested
for tuberculosis. The persons whose lungs show abnormalities
cannot enter the U.S., and the results of the saliva tests are
communicated in two months by telephone. If the results are
negative, the applicant can schedule another appointment for a
Visa. If the results are positive, then the person has to follow the
doctor’s orders. Many people who don’t pass the medical exam
can very easily get depressed. The sadness and disappointment
are noticeable on their faces when the results are negative.
For those who do not pass their medical exams, the hopes and
dreams clash with the impossibility of being with their children,
who have invested considerable amount of time and money in
applying for an Immigration Visa.

1. Arriésgate lo más posible: Iniciar una empresa puede

desean que consigas
grandes logros en la vida.
Si quieres tener éxito,

4. Persigue tu felicidad: Al iniciar
tu negocio, debes hacerlo en algo
que verdaderamente te apasione. Debes
tomar en cuenta que si vas a hacer algo el resto de
tu vida, por lo menos tiene que ser algo que te guste.
5. No tomes en cuenta todas las opiniones: A lo largo de
tu camino de emprendimiento, habrá gente que te dirá
que lo primero que debes hacer es adquirir experiencia
en una gran empresa o que trate de convencerte de que
tu idea no será exitosa, pero la verdad es que, si
realmente deseas iniciar tu negocio y eso es lo que te
hace feliz, entonces, adelante “ignóralos”.
Por eso, debes tratar con expertos y con personas en las
que realmente confíes para escuchar sus propuestas.
Ya lo sabes, olvídate de los prejuicios y lucha por esa
idea que puede llegar a ser una gran empresa. Si llega
a ser exitosa, sin duda, será una de tus grandes
satisfacciones y ésta es la mejor época para empezar,

Chapter 9: Spanish and Inglés= Spanglish

Hace poco me pidieron que considerara escribir esto en Inglés y
Español y pensé que hacer esto implicaba recordar en dos idiomas.
Haré eso pero me dije a mí mismo, será algo, bilingüe. Un libro de
memorias escrito en dos idiomas desde su inicio, en lugar de primero
escribirlo en un idioma para que después un traductor profesional lo
tradujera a una lengua “extranjera”.
Así que me dije a mí mismo, otra vez, y luego en voz alta: ¿podría
escribir un texto bilingüe interactivo? Podría estar este texto consciente
de su otro yo? Su yo en español? o su yo Inglés? Si el texto está
consciente de que es parte de otro texto, ósea que nunca ha sido un
texto por si solo y siempre desde el inicio fue dos textos, podría
entonces convertirse en algo interactivo en algo que siempre este en other? Its Spanish self? or Inglés self?
diálogo con sus dos yo? Osea, habrá dos versiones del mismo texto,
consciente de que ningún texto es idéntico al otro por la imposibilidad
de captar su mensaje en las dos lenguas. Pero ¿qué pasa con el lector?
¿No sería dejar a algunos lectores fuera de la lectura? Pero que
no es eso lo que significa ser un latino en Estados Unidos,
constantemente no entender, querer entender. Tal vez, en este texto
no se trata de hablar con lectores monolingües, tal vez se busca
iniciar una conversación con lectores bilingües; lectores hispanos que
aprendieron en casa y los no-hispanohablantes que fueron criados en
las aulas de classes de español y libros de texto. ¿Podemos compartir
experiencias de manera creativa, en formas no convencionales, podemos
ir más allá de la necesidad de compartir recuerdos en más de un
idioma, sin parar, de forma continua, al mismo tiempo, en Inglés y
Español, o Spanglish. ¿Cómo traducimos esto? ¿Esto es algo que va
más allá de la traducción? Pensé en voz alta.

Hace unos años, escribí lo siguiente y parece encajar en este momento
y en esta nueva fase de recordar: "'En cuanto a lenguaje' quisiera
decirle a todos los maestros y a sus plumas rojas que lo digo en el
idioma que mejor me nace. Lo afirmo así pues confundiéndoles con
mis coloquialismos. Esos otroismos salvajes que al escribirlos y al
mantenerlos vivos, llaman un circle, borra esto, un emite este otro,
una reacción innecesaria seguida con la observación que conozco
muy bien, coloquial; cambiarlo. Supongo que mi vida entera ha estado
llena de una serie de expresiones coloquiales; a mí esas marcas
son otra manera de identificar al otro en papel. Sabiendo eso lo hago.
Sabiendo que lo verán como un algo sin mérito, pero sabiendo que
despertará una reacción. Alguna forma de acción. Sí otra manera de
causar una reacción en el lector con mis frases, palabras y dichos
fuera de lugar y de lo usual. Imitando el espacio de lo in-usual. Lo
inusual, es ingenuo me han dicho, constantemente me dicen, cambia,
esto suena mejor me dicen. Les digo, la melodía de su canción no
está en sintonía con el sonido de mi coro. Las cosas que digo, las
cosas que me gustaría decir definitivamente se harán de forma coloquial.
Es que así es como se vive y no como se aprende ni como se
lee. Aprendí bajo un deslumbramiento de Inglés y Español, nunca del
todo bien, pero siempre insuficiente. Esto no es como los sueños de
bodega del Quiñonez, o las niñas García que perdieron su acento
como nos dijo Julia Alvarez, y no es un manifiesto como el del Rodríguez,
este sobre las tierras fronterizas de Anzaldúa, ni menos el Reino
de Oro de Villaseñor, ni la casa en la calle Mango ni mucho menos
espero la bendición de Ultima, nada de eso. No soy ellos, no soy pocho,
no soy chicano, ni mucho menos mexicano, ni mucho menos
americano, identificando al yo no es lo mío, eso es lo de los demás.
Lo mío es lo de los filósofos que hablan del asco, asco de la vida y
ganas de vivir. A mi háblenme de Fanon y de sus condenados de la
tierra y sus pieles negras y máscaras blancas, es que a mí me preocupa
lo de la existencia como lo estuvo aquel alemán del bien y el mal o
aquel francés y su no exit y su existencialismo o como lo de ese mexicano
machista y patriarcal el de los borradores de las sombras y su
laberinto. Pero, de nuevo todo esto es sólo puro sin sentido, algo sinlímites,
coloquialismos, borderline, según me han dicho. Esta es una
fase para usted, me dicen. Ellos siempre parecen saber quién soy
mejor que yo. Me dicen. Les digo sé lo suficiente para saber lo que
ustedes creen que soy o como me identifican. Identificar identidades.
No estoy tratando de merecer o probar cualquier etiqueta o identidad
ya se ha hecho, es innecesario, y no es lo mío ya lo he leído. Sólo estoy
tratando de escribir chistes coloquiales como nuevos comienzos
bajo Español e Inglés, eso es todo como el escritor que digo ser. Le
Dije: Es que escribir en inglés o en español tiene mucho que ver porque
cada de que escribo en inglés sobre mi ciudad y experiencia, suena
algo así como Víctor Villaseñor, el escritor que no configuró en la
antología Boom Latino: Una Antología de Literatura Latina en Estados
Unidos. Pero si tuviera que escribir esta misma experiencia en español,
todavía no sería parte de la explosión literaria conocida como el
Boom, la de Gabriel García Márquez y compañía, en lugar mi historia
sería como una apropiación de la literatura del siglo diecinueve y cruza
con la forma o pensamiento posmoderno, quién sabe, pero no se
consideraría algo chicano ni del boom. Estos son los asuntos que hay
que considerar, porque en las librerías esto puede determinar en cuál
estante te van a poner; con los clásicos, con la literatura étnica o con
los libros de Jorge Ramos sobre la inmigración. Quiero que la experiencia
de mi ciudad sea leída como una experiencia humana, tal vez
como un ejemplo de una existencia global, algo que cuestione al neoliberalismo,
algo sin color pero no por desmerecer la importancia de

'"Just recently I was asked to consider to write this in English and
Spanish, which in many ways also means to remember in Spanish
and Inglés. I thought to myself, something, bilingual. A memoir written
in both languages from the beginning, instead of one language first
and later translated into the “foreign” language by a professional
translator.
So I thought to myself, again, and later out-loud: could I write an interactive
bilingual text? Meaning, could this text be self-conscious of its

could it then become interactive and both be in dialog with one another?
But what about the reader? Wouldn’t some of the readers be left
out? But isn’t that what being a U.S. latino is all about? Perhaps, this
text is not about talking to monolingual readers, perhaps it seeks to
begin a conversation with my bilingual readers; hispanic readers who
learned at home and non-hispanic readers brought up and raised
within spanish language classrooms and textbooks. Can’t we share
experiences creatively in unconventional ways, can’t we move beyond
the need to share memories in more than one language, non-stop,
continuously at the same time, in Inglés and Spanish, or Spanglish.
How do we translate this is it beyond translation? I thought out-loud.
A few years ago, I wrote the following and it seems to fit right now in
this next phase of remembering:
“‘On language’ quisiera decirle a todos esos maestros y a sus plumas
que lo digo en el idioma que mejor me nace. Lo afirmo así
pues confundiéndolos con mis coloquialismos. Esos otroismos salvajes
que al escribirlos y al mantenerlos vivos, llaman un circle, a delete,
an emit, an unnecessary wording followed by the all too familiar
and knowing remark, colloquial; change it. I guess mi entire life has
been plagued with a series of colloquialisms; to me those markings
are another way to identify the other on paper. Knowingly I produce it.
Knowing it will un-merit my effort, but knowingly it will arouse a reaction.
Some form of action. Sí otra manera de causar una reacción en
el lector con esas frases, palabras y dichos fuera de lugar y de lo
común. Imitando el espacio de lo usual. The unusual, yes perhaps,

colloquialisms, i am told. This is a phase for you, they tell me. They
always seem to know who i am better than me. Me dicen. Les digo sé

label or identity, it’s been done, it’s unnecessary, and it’s not my
thing. I read it already. I am just trying to write colloquial punch lines

as a human experience, perhaps as global existence, something questioning
neoliberalism and colorless, not to demerit the importance of
the people whom I represent, but to universalize our experience because
by shedding light on our late capitalist experience other beings
from around the world who speak other languages and share different
cultures can see and find that we all share the same local problems,
same worries, and concerns as we attempt to survive under the same
economy as we all seem to be the wretched of the earth.’” CONTINUE
