SABU DASTAGIR (Born in Mysore) A son of an Indian mahout was discovered by documentary film-maker Robert Flaherty who casted him in British film ‘Elephant Boy’. He was best known for his role as ‘Abu’ in ‘The Thief of Bagdad’. He had acted in various Hollywood movies which increased his popularity. Later on, he joined the United States Army Air Forces and was awarded for his distinguished valor. VIVIEN LEIGH (Born in Darjeeling) This ravishing lady stunned the world with her performance as Scarlett O’Hara in ‘Gone with the Wind’ (1939). ENCELBERT HUMPERDINCK (Born in Madras) Best known for his songs “Release Me” and “The Last Waltz” had spent first decade of his life in Chennai. The family moved to England when he ten.
