Born and brought up in Mumbai rose to fame when her pictures were used to campaign a popular soap brand. Gradually she went on to become a famous model. She had turned down a role in ‘Bond’ film to keep her mother’s promise. ENCELBERT HUMPERDINCK (Born in Madras) Best known for his songs “Release Me” and “The Last Waltz” had spent first decade of his life in Chennai. The family moved to England when he ten. At early stage he started playing saxophone in nightclubs until he started singing at the age of seventeen. He gained a rare feat of scoring two million sales of his music copies in a year.
