deliver higher education (HE) courses mean thatcollege students<br />

are graduating with an average<strong>of</strong>around£17,500 less debt than<br />

Repayments <strong>of</strong> studentloans<br />

When repayments start<br />

Full-timestudents begin repayingstudent<br />

loansinthe April afterfinishingtheir course,<br />

if they earn over£21,000. Part-timestudents<br />

studyingfor more than threeyears start<br />

repayments in theApril afterthey’vefinished<br />

threeyears <strong>of</strong> study,ifthey earn over<br />

£21,000.<br />

What you’ll pay back<br />

Once youearnover£21,000 youpay nine<br />

percent<strong>of</strong>yourincomeabove £21,000.<br />

Repayments are normallytaken<br />

automaticallyfromyoursalarywithtax and<br />

National Insurance.<br />

Loaninterest rates<br />

Interest is charged on your loanwhileyou’re<br />

studying. Untilyou startrepayingthe loan,<br />

interest is charged at therate<strong>of</strong>inflation<br />

Council taxexemption<br />

Full-timestudents, if livingalone,are exempt<br />

from payingcouncil tax. If youliveina<br />

<strong>Course</strong> description<br />

In this two year programmestudents will benefit from the<br />

practicaltrainingand work experience thatformanimportant<br />

part <strong>of</strong> all foundation degrees,alongside athoroughtrainingin<br />

scientifictheoryand principles, with aparticularemphasis on the<br />

study <strong>of</strong> animal behaviourand welfare.Moduledeliverywill be<br />

complementedbyeducationalvisits to appropriateanimal care<br />

andhousing facilities such as zoologicalgardens andwildlife<br />

parks,veterinaryhospitals andanimal rehabilitation centres.<br />

Applicants must have agenuineinterestinanimal behaviour,<br />

This is an introductory qualification which all newteachersinthe<br />

learningand skills sector must complete.<strong>The</strong> PTLLS qualification<br />
