We're not afraid to admit it – the mega sailing
yacht scene is also a preserve of beauty, elegance
and superior taste. The sight of a welldesigned
ship can reveal the essence of creativity.
And all the more so if a masterpiece of
aesthetic beauty is combined with functional
perfection.
A naval architect is thus many people in one – contractor,
planner, constructor, designer, technical advisor, space
creator and stylist – artisan and artist. Some may safely
be called geniuses without fear of exaggeration. That is
certainly true of the most famous among them – architects
as famous as their creations. And of the greatest
shipbuilding teams on the world's most celebrated wharves
from the North Sea to the Mediterranean and the
South Pacific.
The maritime world offers those designers exceptional
subjects and challenges. The most successful megayacht
creations are works of art in their own right, testimony
to individuality of style, imagination and creativity.
Their outward appearance, uniqueness and beauty are an
