LOWER DAUPHIN SCHOOL BOARD<br />
The Board of School Directors is comprised of nine members with three<br />
members each representing three regions of the District:<br />
Region 1: Londonderry and Conewago <strong>Township</strong>s<br />
Dana A. Barry, Todd M. Kreiser, and Renae M. Paladino<br />
Region 2: Hummelstown Borough and part of South <strong>Hanover</strong> <strong>Township</strong><br />
Rebecca D. Kline, Marcela D. Myers, and Rodney B. Nissley<br />
Region 3: <strong>East</strong> <strong>Hanover</strong> and part of South <strong>Hanover</strong> <strong>Township</strong>s<br />
Jeffrey A. Neely, Keith E. Oellig, and Laurie N. Reichert<br />
Board meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of<br />
every month at the District Administration Center, 291 <strong>East</strong> Main Street,<br />
Hummelstown, unless otherwise specified. The District Office telephone<br />
number is 566-5300.<br />
PUBLIC SAFETY COUNCIL<br />
Resolution 2003-02 was adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 2003.<br />
The Resolution calls for the formation of a Public Safety Advisory Council.<br />
The Council is comprised of emergency providers (representatives of<br />
the State Police, South Central EMS, and the Grantville Volunteer Fire<br />
Company), a Board representative and members of the community appointed<br />
by the Board. This is an advisory council which will provide insight<br />
regarding the safety needs of the <strong>Township</strong>. If anyone is interested<br />
in an appointed position on this Council, or for more information, please<br />
contact John Nelligan at 469-2123.<br />
THE STATE POLICE<br />
The State Police provides primary police service to the municipalities in<br />
Pennsylvania which have no local police force. The Harrisburg station,<br />
located at 800 Bretz Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17112, serves the <strong>Township</strong>s<br />
of <strong>East</strong> <strong>Hanover</strong>, West <strong>Hanover</strong>, South <strong>Hanover</strong>, Londonderry, Conewago<br />
and Middle Paxton. It also serves Dauphin,<br />
Royalton and West Fairview Boroughs when their<br />
part-time police departments are not in service. The<br />
telephone number is 671-7500.<br />

BULK ITEM COLLECTION (BIC):<br />
Any establishment which participates in the Regular Collection Service<br />
will be eligible to use this program with no additional charge. ONE<br />
bulk item will be collected each week. Bulk items guidelines:<br />
• No items that are too heavy to be lifted onto a truck by two people<br />
will be collected.<br />
• Additional trash bags ARE NOT considered bulk items<br />
• Pleas have your bulk items curbside before 6:00 am on your collection<br />
day<br />
• Call Penn Waste at 717-767-4456 or 1-866-575-8720 to schedule<br />
collection of Freon appliances<br />
Acceptable:<br />
• Appliances (i.e., washers, dryer, microwave)<br />
• Carpet (48 inch maximum lengths must be rolled and tied)<br />
• Furniture<br />
• Mattress and box spring<br />
• Car tires only (NO RIMS)<br />
• Televisions<br />
• Lawn mowers (oil and gasoline must be removed)<br />
• Plumbing fixtures (i.e., toilets and sinks)<br />
Unacceptable items include the following:<br />
• Paints, chemicals, stains and liquids<br />
• Car and truck batteries<br />
• Automobile parts<br />
• Tires on rims<br />
• Commercial/industrial waste<br />
• Construction material (i.e., drywall, brick, block, lumber, roofing<br />
shingles, tiles, concrete)<br />
• Household Hazardous Waste<br />
