Alexander Dennis Inc., Canyon Lake. I shall refer to the various demonstrators by the last 5 digits of their VIN. 11721 was<br />
used for US certification testing at Altoona between January and June 2005; thereafter it was demonstrated to numerous<br />
potential north American customers, some of whom have subsequently placed orders for new vehicles. Notable<br />
amongst these demonstrations was Community Transit, Everett, WA (see below), OC Transpo, Ottawa, ON (4/06), in<br />
Orlando, FL (5/06), and then back to OC Transpo, Ottawa, ON, for in service summer trials (7/06) and for winter in<br />
service trials (2/07). Further demonstrations took place across the USA in 2007 including San Francisco (12/07), and<br />
even into Mexico. 11721 was on display at APTA Expo, San Diego, CA, with Ari Lifting Systems (6-8/10/08), and was<br />
loaned to ASUCD {Unitrans}, Davis, CA, for driver training earlier this year (2010).<br />
11861 has spent extended periods with Community Transit, Everett, WA, and, currently, Strathcona County Transit,<br />
Sherwood Park, AB, as described elsewhere in this edition.<br />
11888 was the on-road demonstrator at APTA Expo, San Diego, CA (6-8/10/08).<br />
ASUCD {Unitrans}, Davis. 8185/6 are the first two ‘American’ built E500s, in that they were the first two to be assembled by<br />
ElDorado National Inc., Riverside, CA, from body kits supplied from the UK. <strong>The</strong> tags require confirmation as there’s<br />
plenty of photographic evidence of both carrying 1343652 on the front, and of 8185 carrying 1343653 on the rear when<br />
new.<br />
Open Top Sightseeing, San Francisco. Numbers 13, 14 & 16 above, along with numbers 9, 10 & 11 still to be reported,<br />
have chassis numbers 11849/51/52/54/75/76 in unknown order; numbers 9-16 were the original San Francisco<br />
allocation, but several have since been moved to Washington (see also <strong>OJ</strong>846).<br />

Chicago Trolley & Double Decker, Chicago. Confirmation that all 20 Tridents displaced from New York have arrived here<br />
would be much appreciated. For some time after arrival, various Tridents continued to operate with their New York<br />
“tags” – see 71312 above for which no Chicago “tag” is known (as with all others shown blank above). Since arriving in<br />
Chicago, many of the Tridents have lost the ‘71’ at the front of their fleet number, though in many cases the full number<br />
is displayed internally in the driver’s cab area. For much of the time, most vehicles carry overall adverts (for various<br />
sponsors), so fleet numbers are often absent from the exterior.<br />
