<strong>WMO</strong> PRESIDENT’S VISIT<br />
The members of the<br />
delegation from South Africa<br />
<strong>and</strong> Botswana s<strong>to</strong>pped over<br />
for further meetings with the<br />
<strong>India</strong>n Chapter on their return<br />
from Karachi on route back<br />
home on 11th <strong>and</strong> 12th of April<br />
<strong>Visit</strong> <strong>to</strong> Farooq Sattar High School at<br />
Jogeshwari under Management of <strong>Memon</strong><br />
Educational <strong>and</strong> Welfare Society – 12th<br />
April<br />
The delegates were received at the Air<br />
Port by the members of the <strong>India</strong>n Chapter<br />
<strong>and</strong> taken direct <strong>to</strong> Farooq Sattar High<br />
School, managed by MEWS. The schools<br />
has a student population of 2,600 boys<br />
<strong>and</strong> girls receiving education from Primary<br />
<strong>to</strong> Secondary Education. The delegates<br />
were received by the MEWS President Mr<br />
Mohamed Ali Momin, Jt Sec Mr Anis Noor<br />
<strong>and</strong> Principal <strong>and</strong> staff of the school<br />
The delegates thereafter visited the<br />
<strong>Memon</strong> Colony <strong>and</strong> had lunch at the residence<br />
of Mr Mohd Ali Mohamed, where<br />
the report of the MEWS was presented<br />
<strong>to</strong> <strong>WMO</strong> President Mr Satar Dada. Approximately<br />
6,000 students supported in the<br />
education by MEWS. President Dada also<br />
invited Mr Ali Momin <strong>to</strong> support the <strong>WMO</strong><br />
IC by becoming a Trustee of the <strong>WMO</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
support the activities of the <strong>WMO</strong> for the<br />
welfare of <strong>Memon</strong>’s in <strong>India</strong>.<br />
Meeting with the <strong>WMO</strong><br />
<strong>India</strong>n Chapter <strong>to</strong> discuss<br />
the future plans of IC<br />
– 13th April<br />
President Mr Satar Dada met with the<br />
Members of the IC <strong>to</strong> discuss the future<br />
program of activities of the IC based on the<br />
funding requirements as discussed at the<br />
dinner hosted by IC on 6th April<br />
Total Commitment required from the<br />
<strong>WMO</strong> for all the planned activities – US$<br />
1,333,334.00. Majid Ranani VP IC offered<br />
<strong>to</strong> fund US$ 220,000 of this from his personal<br />
funds <strong>and</strong> under <strong>to</strong>ok <strong>to</strong> remit part of<br />
this immediately <strong>to</strong> the <strong>WMO</strong> <strong>to</strong> commence<br />
the activities in <strong>India</strong>. He also committed<br />
<strong>to</strong> raise additional US$ 220,000 from other<br />
sources immediately for this purpose. In the<br />
meanwhile IC will start <strong>to</strong> comply the data<br />
<strong>and</strong> scrutinize the applications <strong>and</strong> finalize<br />
the grants <strong>to</strong> be forwarded <strong>to</strong> <strong>WMO</strong> for<br />
approval for release of the funds. Mr Feizul<br />
requested <strong>to</strong> get more Youth <strong>and</strong> Ladies<br />
involved in the <strong>WMO</strong> IC activities <strong>and</strong> the<br />
scope <strong>to</strong> be exp<strong>and</strong>ed. He also requested<br />
for larger local contribution of Zakat <strong>to</strong> be<br />
mobilized from <strong>India</strong> for future activities of<br />
the <strong>WMO</strong> IC<br />
Dinner at Mr Farooq Sodagar<br />
Darvesh – 13th April<br />
Mr Farooq darvesh hosted the delegates for<br />
discussion <strong>and</strong> dinner at his residence prior<br />
<strong>to</strong> the departure <strong>to</strong> South Africa.<br />
Different options available for <strong>WMO</strong><br />
IC <strong>to</strong> receive overseas funds pending the<br />
local chapter registration <strong>and</strong> FCR Account<br />
opening was discussed <strong>and</strong> of the 2<br />
best options available (<strong>Memon</strong> Education<br />
& Wlefare Society (MEWS) <strong>and</strong> All <strong>India</strong><br />
<strong>Memon</strong> Jamat Federation (AIMJF), it was<br />
decided <strong>to</strong> proceed with AIMJF. President<br />
Satar Dada agreed <strong>to</strong> write <strong>to</strong> AIMJF President<br />
Dr Nasir Fulara seeking his permission<br />
<strong>to</strong> do so<br />
Also it was decided, the better option<br />
for registration of the IC was under the<br />
Societies Regulation <strong>and</strong> as suggested by Mr<br />
Farooq Sodagar, it was decided <strong>to</strong> retain the<br />
services of Solici<strong>to</strong>r Mr Aziz Rangwalla for<br />
this purpose.<br />
Thereafter Mrs Shabana Darvesh <strong>and</strong><br />
Mrs Razia Chasmawalla presented the work<br />
carried out by the Ladies wing.<br />
VP Mr Majid Ranani informed the delegates<br />
the IC has already commenced fund<br />
raising in <strong>India</strong> <strong>and</strong> the following commitments<br />
have been received on the 1st day of<br />
the appeal<br />

2. Mr Siddiq Motiwala –<br />
Ind Rs 500,000<br />
3. Mrs Zulekha Motiwala –<br />
Ind Rs 500,000<br />

Ind Rs 200,000<br />
5. Mr Shafi Mulani –<br />
Ind Rs 100,000<br />
This is only the initial commitment, <strong>and</strong><br />
Mr Ranani assured of more commitment in<br />
the future.<br />
