This solid state lighting system delivers extremely long life, high quality light, energy savings and<br />

reduced maintenance costs as well as several other benefits compared to current HID systems.<br />

This simple system, easily installed, has been designed to deliver maximum performance in a large<br />

number of Howard luminaires for both new products as well as a retrofit in an existing fixture.<br />

Quality of Light<br />

High Brightness LED’s provide excellent color rendering (83+ CRI) which make people and<br />

objects appear more natural.<br />

A bright white, 3500k color temperature helps create a more comfortable outdoor setting than<br />

typical HID systems.<br />

LED systems achieve full brightness (no warm up time like HID) immediately after being powered on.<br />

Instant restart after a power outage, eliminates the long wait typical of HID lamps needing to cool<br />

down before restarting.<br />

Green Technology<br />

No Mercury or other hazardous materials are used in the<br />

manufacturing of our LED system making it environmentally safe<br />

and recyclable.<br />

LED technology performs comparably to HID sources using less<br />

power therefore reducing CO˝ emissions.<br />

The chart illustrates how lumen depreciation and life affect the total cost of<br />

the lighting system. HID sources lose light output quickly during their rated<br />

life compared to LED. During the 50,000+ hour design life of the LED,<br />

there will be 3 or more lamp changes for the HID.<br />

When using non-refractive fixtures, the tilted LED unit is designed to<br />

be used for both Type III and Type V distributions. The unit will open<br />

up after it clears the neck of the diffuser and the individual panels will<br />

be positioned at the optimal angle to increase downward efficiency<br />

For refractive lens fixtures, the vertical unit is specified to maximize the<br />

output of the optically designed lens. The position of the LED boards on<br />

the heat sink has been carefully calculated relative to the geometry of the<br />

cut prisms to ensure that the light distribution is uniform and maximum<br />

spacing between poles is achieved.<br />
