TWO LUXURY BUS NARRATED TOURS TO
LAVENDER FESTIVAL
IN BEAUMONT

Join Tallgrass Trading Company, Hiking, Van and Bus Tours, for one
of two luxury bus tours to the 11th annual Lavender Festival at
Highland Springs Resort on either Saturday, June 13 or June 20.
The round trip narrated tour departs promptly at 10 a.m. from the
Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce parking lot at 72-559 Highway
111. Enter parking lot from Painter’s Path at El Paseo (west end)
and park in the west section by the chamber building. Bus boards
at 9:45 a.m.
Cost for the trip is $55 per person and includes admission to the
Lavender Festival and professionally narrated tour from the desert
to Highland Springs in Beaumont, covering the fascinating history
and geography of the area by longtime desert area tour guide
Nancy Cohee.
At the Lavender Festival will be live classical music, guided tours of
the Highland Springs historic grounds on horse drawn hayrides, an
organic marketplace, and lavender-inspired cuisine from lemonade
and ice cream to lavender lattes and much more, all amid fields of
fragrant lavender and under cool shade trees. Onsite activities,
food and beverages are additional cost.
Bus departs from Highland Springs Resort at 1:30 p.m. and returns
to the Palm Desert Chamber parking lot at approximately 2:15 p.m.

About the Lavender Festival
The Lavender Festival is June 13-14 & 20-21, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
at the Highland Springs Resort, 10600 Highland Springs Ave.,
Cherry Valley. The historic resort is surrounded by fields of
lavender which bloom in early summer, bringing a delightful
fragrance and stunning vistas to the San Gorgonio highlands.
Festival activities include live classical music, an organic
market place, horse-drawn hayrides, aromatherapy/massage,
workshops and lectures, lavender inspired cuisine and much
more.
About Highland Springs Resort
In the early 1800’s, the area surrounding Highland Springs
Resort was known as the San Gorgonio Rancho, an outpost
for the San Gabriel Mission. A large portion of the area was a
Spanish Land Grant, later sold to Dr. Isaac William Smith.
In 1862, Smith’s ranch became a stagecoach stop and dubbed
“Smith Station.” From 1864 to 1866, the route through
Highland Springs connected to the Bradshaw carrying
prospectors to the Colorado River.
Smith’s Station slowly developed into a bustling hotel. By 1884,
a three-story hotel called Highland Home was built on the
property. The first cherry trees in the area were planted here,
contributing to the name that it is still known by today - Cherry
Valley.
Today, Highland Springs Resort encompasses a 100% certified
organic farm and ranch that spans 1500 acres north of the
resort property. Purchased by a coalition of neighborhood and
environmental protection groups in 2006, the ranch preserve
now protects the organic and natural habitat of hundreds of
wildlife species and the area’s natural water supply.
Highland Springs Resort offers a friendly staff with the same
warm smiles which have welcomed guests since 1884.
About Tallgrass Trading Company
Tallgrass Trading Company, Hiking, Van and Bus Tours offers professionally guided tours since
2005. Nancy Cohee, owner/guide, moved to the Coachella Valley more than 25 years ago
from the Los Angeles area. She expanded her love of the region: Hiked the mountains, biked
across the valley, and four-wheeled the back roads.
College classes and self-study enhanced her knowledge of the environment, ecology, botany
and history of the Coachella Valley including the geology of the Sonoran and Mohave Deserts.
These studies continue to this day.
She has been a professional tour guide since 1996 with Desert Adventures Jeep Eco Tours
doing hiking, jeep, and bicycle tours. All Tallgrass Trading Company guides and staff are
professionals with a wide range of knowledge and experience who bring a love of the desert
and the desire to share the Coachella Valley with visitors.
