ABOUT CPSC:
The Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician
Education (CPSC) is a unique Inter-Governmental
Organization for Human Resources Development in
Asia and the Pacific Region. As a specialized agency of
the Colombo Plan System, CPSC is mandated to
enhance the quality of technical and vocational
education and training (TVET) in its member countries
through the planning and implementation of demanddriven
training programs; research and development,
information dissemination and consultancy activities
in Asia and the Pacific region.
CPSC has become a vibrant forum in facilitating the
improvement of TVET systems among its member
countries, which are: Afghanistan, Bangladesh,
Bhutan, Fiji, India, Republic of Korea, Malaysia,
Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Islamic Republic
of Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines,
Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
ABOUT NITTTR:
National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and
Research (NITTTR), Chennai is a model human
resource development institute for planning,
designing, developing, organizing and evaluating
quality training programmes, research studies and
learning packages for technical and vocational
education, industry and community. The institute
strives continuously and vigorously to further enhance
its sensitivity to environmental changes and reach
greater heights of excellence through active
collaboration with national and international agencies
on Projects and Programmes aimed at quality
improvement of technical education system.
PROGRAM FOCUS:
Education and training technologies have been
undergoing unprecedented development for several
years now. This trend is manifest in the increasing
interest in ICT shown by operators and actors in
education and training at national and local levels and
in both public and private sectors. It is a trend that
can also be seen in the close attention paid by
international agencies, donors and cooperation bodies
to investment in ICT in support of governments in
their efforts to meet the challenges relating to the
sector and beyond.
In realization of the huge potentials of information
and communications technology (ICT) in education
and training, governments have poured huge
investments into developing their respective ICT in
Education Plans and into bringing ICT equipment
and various tools into educational institutions. On
top of necessary expertise in their subject matters,
teachers have to understand how to guide their
students in making judicious use of information
from multiple sources, think critically, work and
solve problems collaboratively. The challenge is how
to enable teachers not only to overcome the
technology barriers but also to empower them to
integrate appropriate technology into the learning
process. Unfortunately, teacher training initiatives
are often limited to disconnected, “one-time-only”
workshops that lack follow-through activities to
provide the teacher trainees with motivation,
guidance, and models when they go back to their
actual settings.
With this in mind, CPSC, in collaboration with
NITTTR, Chennai, Ministry of Human Resources
Development, India is convening one-day
<strong>International</strong> <strong>Seminar</strong> on “ICT for Education and
Training” against the background of the emerging
global challenges on integration of ICT in teaching
and learning. The purpose of the seminar is to create
a platform for the academicians and practitioners to
exchange innovative ideas and experience based
insights on issues addressing the regional and global
concerns on addressing various initiatives for ICT
utilization that aims to create an enabling
environment for student-centered use of ICT.
The seminar will also provide timely opportunity to
share knowledge and experiences on the educational
and training dimension of enhancing ICT skills for
employability through system in TVET and to
discuss the policy tools, the coordinating
mechanisms and the scope of national educational
and training strategies to deal with them. This
upcoming seminar will also examine the
opportunities that can be levered out of such a
situation, for both individuals and TVET system. It
will also help in promoting dialogue on the main
themes towards the harmonization of education and
training standards; and strengthening cooperation
among stakeholders for empowering for future
through ICT skills development.
OBJECTIVES:
To update insights for policy makers, TVET
providers and educationists on the latest and
innovative teaching and learning practices to
enhance student development
To provide teachers with a platform to
showcase and exchange ideas and experiences
on ICT-pedagogy integration;
To facilitate dialogue among key players on the
directions towards effective and innovative use
of ICT in education
RESOURCE PERSONS:
The <strong>Seminar</strong> is expected to be addressed by various
ICT Professionals in education, experts, and
practitioners from the region with representations from
national forum of universities, institutions and
industry.
DELEGATES:
The <strong>Seminar</strong> is designed for administrators, policy
makers, academic professionals, representatives and
experts from various international and regional
organizations including private sector and enthusiasts.
REGISTRATION:
A Registration Fee of Rs. 1000/- has to be paid by
each delegate to participate in the <strong>Seminar</strong>.
Registration Fee will cover the cost of seminar kit and
working lunch.
TRAVEL, BOARDING & LODGING:
Delegates will not be paid T.A. or D.A.
Arrangements for accommodation and
boarding in the institute's Hostel may be made
on payment of Rs.400/- per day per delegate.

Duly filled-in applications in the prescribed format
should be sent by post/ fax/ e-mail to the Coordinator
of the programme latest by 18 th December 2012.
Selected candidates will be intimated through e-mail/
fax.
