High Sensitivity Detector Screens Option (PCM2 OPT16)
High Sensitivity
Detector Screens
Option Parts List
These optional 10 mil (0.010 in.) thick, 1/10" etched grid screens serve as a
direct replacement for the standard 0.030 in. thick, 1/8" square perforated plated
steel screens normally furnished with the PCM-2 unit for detector face protection
and user body interface. These "high sensitivity" screens, being physically
thinner and having a 20 % greater open area, provide a proportionate decrease in
typical measurement count times when used. They are recommended for usage in
monitoring environments where maximum sensitivity (such as alpha measurement)
is desired. However, they do not provide as smooth of feel or the increased
resistance to wear that the more rugged standard perforated detector screens do.
Head & Shoulders Position Sensor Option (PCM2 OPT17)
This option consists of a small photocell emitter/receiver pair which are mounted
to the upper front detector bank of the PCM-2 unit for the purpose of sensing the
position of the user's upper body relative to the subject detectors. The supporting
electronics for the photocell pair are mounted within the upper electronics
enclosure of the instrument. The photo-emitter resides in a small stainless steel
housing which front mounts at lower center right of the upper main detector panel
betweeen the right-hand and center detectors. Its light beam traverses the center
detector upwardly aligned with the photoreceiver which is mounted directly above
a small hole in the ceiling of the unit adjacent to the head detector. The light
beam is spaced approximately 0.25 in. away from the frontal surface of the center
detector on the front panel. The angular alignment of the photocell's beam and
