Arcs and curved axes: all they take is the right encoder<br />
Don’t settle for any transducer: incremental SMR5H and absolute SMLA encoders<br />
are specifically designed for accurate installation and measurement<br />
on arcs and curved surfaces up to 360°.<br />
Following several custom requests, <strong>Lika</strong> <strong>Electronic</strong> has developed<br />
a specific range of contactless encoders ideally<br />
suited for installation on round axes up to 360° & arcs<br />
with virtually any diameter.<br />
SMR5H is a quadrature incremental encoder specifically<br />
engineered for installation on the inner side of arcs from<br />
176 mm / 7” min. diameter up. It will be available also for<br />
full circumference soon. SMR5H is compact, has a shallow<br />
profile (15 mm / 0.59” depth) and even better is curved-shaped;<br />
this allows it to fit into arcs with constrained and tight<br />
mounting space (such as inside a torque motor enclosure)<br />
and guarantees quickness and ease of installation. It is contactless<br />
and encompasses a proven magnetic technology<br />
fully integrated into a rugged and hermetically encapsulated<br />
housing with IP67 protection rate. Thus it is ideally<br />
suited to operate in aggressive industrial environments and<br />
provides virtually wear & maintenance-free operation under<br />
tough conditions such as when dirt, moisture, oil, vibrations<br />
and shocks are present. The sensor generates square wave signals<br />
with complementary signals through either Push-Pull<br />
(HTL) +10-30Vdc or Line Driver (TTL) +5Vdc output circuits.<br />
Resolutions are on request. As an additional advantage,<br />
SMR5H is equipped with built-in sensor to provide the Reference<br />
signal. Furthermore it is fitted with integral LEDs to signal<br />
power on status and reference sensing. Please note the<br />
lateral cable outlet to save space and increase convenience.<br />
When it comes to highest precision needs on curved surfaces<br />
up to 360° SMLA absolute encoder is the perfect<br />
match. It offers resolutions up to 14 bits over 400 mm / 15.7”<br />
measuring length (longer travels available soon). Output circuits<br />
can be SSI or BiSS-C and they both provide alarm bits.<br />
The magnetic sensing technology allows for non-contact<br />
and frictionless measuring principle with no components<br />
subject to wear or fatigue. Furthermore SMLA affords excellent<br />
durability under adverse conditions and temperatures<br />
(-25°C +85°C, -13°F +185°F) thanks to the encapsulated<br />
electronics and its IP68 protection aluminium enclosure.<br />
This guarantees reliability over time and longer operating<br />
life. Remarkable speeds up to 15,000 rpm and 16 m/s can<br />
be achieved.<br />
High performance and resolution enable a typical use<br />
in industrial applications that need the greatest precision<br />
and accuracy such as in fast pick & place robots and delta<br />
robots as well as in 3D printers, but it is suitable also for<br />
electronic assembly systems and precision material handling<br />
equipment to move highly fragile products. It is effectively<br />
used also to measure the rotation of the rollers on folding<br />
machines.<br />
<strong>Lika</strong> <strong>Electronic</strong> is able to supply all-in-one measuring systems<br />
with incremental or absolute encoder and custom<br />
curved structures on request.
