<strong>MIDDLE</strong> <strong>SCHOOL</strong><br />
<strong>DRESS</strong> <strong>CODE</strong> <strong>FOR</strong> <strong>2014</strong> – 2015<br />
ALL dress code clothing MUST be purchased from our supplier, SUNSHINE <strong>SCHOOL</strong> FASHIONS for the <strong>2014</strong>-2015 school year.<br />
Students at Lake Highland Preparatory School are expected to dress and groom themselves in a way which reflects neatness,<br />
moderation, and appropriateness for school. Adherence to the dress code must be maintained throughout the school day.<br />
Students who are not in compliance with the dress code and cannot bring themselves in to compliance while on campus may be sent<br />
home. Every student is required to be in full dress code compliance the first day of school and remain so the rest of the school year.<br />
ALL <strong>DRESS</strong> <strong>CODE</strong> QUESTIONS WILL BE DECIDED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DEAN OF STUDENTS IN THE <strong>MIDDLE</strong> <strong>SCHOOL</strong>.<br />
<strong>DRESS</strong> <strong>CODE</strong> <strong>FOR</strong> WEDNESDAY - <strong>DRESS</strong> DAY<br />
GRADES 7 – 8<br />
LADIES:<br />
BLOUSE: White 3/4 sleeve blouse with logo or white long or short sleeve Oxford with logo. LHPS rugby shirt may only be<br />
worn over the blouse.<br />
SKIRT/SKORT: Black or Gray to the knee.<br />
SLACKS: Black flat front slacks<br />
BELTS: Plain black/cordovan/brown (flat or braided styles)<br />
SHOES: Must be solid black or cordovan/brown leather in good repair.<br />
Dress shoes must have closed toes with heels no higher than 2”. No sandals, backless shoes, flip-flops, athletic<br />
or tennis shoes. Middle school girls are allowed to wear TOMS.<br />
Socks are optional for ladies on Dress Day.<br />
YOUNG MEN:<br />
SHIRT: White long or short sleeve button-down Oxford with logo tucked in.<br />
PANTS: Black relaxed-fit pleated pants or black flat front pants or black shorts.<br />
TIE: School tie (red/black/white stripe)<br />
BELTS: Plain black/cordovan/brown (flat or braided styles)<br />
SHOES: Conservative solid black or cordovan/brown leather dress shoes in good repair.<br />
No sandals, backless shoes, flip-flops, athletic, or tennis shoes. Socks must be worn and laces must be tied.<br />
<strong>DRESS</strong> <strong>CODE</strong> <strong>FOR</strong> MONDAY, TUESDAY, AND THURSDAY<br />
GRADES 7 – 8<br />
LADIES:<br />
POLOS: Red, white, black, navy, pink, light blue, hunter green, moss green coral, grey, teal, royal blue, burgundy, kelly green, pale<br />
yellow, turquoise, lavender, brown, or a LHPS rugby.<br />
Also available, white long sleeve mock turtleneck.<br />
SHIRTS: White 3/4 sleeve blouse with logo or white Oxford shirt with logo.<br />
SKIRT: Black, gray, khaki, stone skirt to the knee.<br />
SKORTS/ SHORTS: Black, Gray, Khaki. May not be altered in length.<br />
SLACKS: Flat front black, or khaki slacks; stone, khaki, or black capri slacks.<br />
BELTS: Plain black/cordovan/brown (flat or braided styles) leather, canvas in solid colored styles, or ribbon belts sold in The Source.<br />
YOUNG MEN:<br />
POLOS: Red, white, black, navy, pink, light blue, hunter green, coral, grey, teal, royal blue, burgundy, moss green, kelly green, pale<br />
yellow, turquoise, brown, lavender, or a LHPS rugby. Also available, white long sleeved mock turtleneck.<br />
SHORTS: Khaki or black pleated shorts, stone colored flat front shorts<br />
PANTS: Khaki, black or stone pleated relaxed-fit pants or black flat front pants<br />
BELTS: Plain black/cordovan/ brown (flat or braided styles) leather, canvas in solid colored styles.<br />
Additional Dress Code requirements:<br />
Undershirts: Must be solid white or black, no writing, drawing, logos, etc.<br />
Ladies: The blouse must come over the top of the skirt or slacks with no midriff showing. Only the top button of the blouse may be<br />
unbuttoned. Shorts/skirts may only be hemmed to the knee and may not be worn in a tight fitting manner.
Shoes: Athletic shoes may be worn every day except Wednesday. They must be in good repair; those with shoelaces must be tied. No<br />
backless styles or sandals, colors must be conservative. Solid colored socks must be worn. Flip flops are not permitted any day of the<br />
school year. Solid colored tights in black or skin tones may be worn. Fishnet stockings and leggings are not permitted.<br />
Outerwear: All outerwear worn on campus must be LHPS outerwear. Sweaters may be purchased at Sunshine School Fashions and<br />
sweatshirts may be purchased at The Source located in the Rex Building, ordered through the mail or over the Internet from The Source.<br />
No other outerwear will be permitted.<br />
Hair etc.<br />
Young Men: Hair must be worn in a conservative, traditional style, neatly groomed and evenly tapered or blocked. Hair must be<br />
above the collar in the back and above the eyebrows in the front. Sideburns are not permitted past mid ear. No unnatural hair colors.<br />
Tattoos, earrings, and/or body piercing are not permitted.<br />
Young Ladies: Hair must be worn in a traditional, conservative manner. No unnatural hair colors or two tone colors. Earrings may<br />
be worn in the bottom of the earlobe only. Tattoos are not permitted. If makeup is worn, it must be worn in a conservative manner.<br />
Scarves/bandanas etc. are not permitted. Hats, bandanas, and sunglasses are not permitted during the school day unless requested by a<br />
teacher or coach.<br />
Undergarments may not be visible.<br />
All students: For colder weather, there are a number of options offered by Sunshine School Fashions including: 3 types of sweaters, a<br />
long sleeve mock turtleneck for boys and girls may be worn under a Sunshine polo, slacks for boys and girls, and rugby shirts. The Source<br />
has many LHP outerwear options.<br />
If items are borrowed from the Dean’s Office (i.e., belts, ties, or other items of clothing) and not returned, then the student’s school<br />
account will be charged for the item.<br />
IF SUNSHINE <strong>SCHOOL</strong> FASHIONS GARMENTS ARE ALTERED AND DO NOT REFLECT THE STYLE AND/OR DESIGN OF THE ORIGINAL<br />
GARMENT, THE GARMENT MAY NOT BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE <strong>DRESS</strong> <strong>CODE</strong> AND WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.<br />

SPIRIT AND SPECIAL DAY ATTIRE <strong>2014</strong>- 2015<br />
SPIRIT DAY ATTIRE*<br />
SHORTS/JEANS/SKIRTS: Students may wear denim or khaki shorts/jeans/skirts.<br />
• Denim shorts/jeans/skirts must be in good repair, bearing no signs of excessive wear, such as holes, patches or frayed ends.<br />
• Shorts/slacks/jeans/skirts will be worn in a traditional fashion. Skirts will be no shorter than 4” above the top of the kneecap.<br />
Shorts must be conservative and modest in length.<br />
• Acceptable colors include solid denim, red, white, khaki or black. No plaid or stripes.<br />
• No overalls, athletic shorts, sweats, jogging pants, tights, bathing trunks, corduroy or oversized styles.<br />
• No drawstring waists or stretch type fabric.<br />
• Belts must be worn if belt loops are on the garment. Belt types are the same as the daily wear requirement.<br />
SHIRTS: LHPS spirit day shirts, LHPS team jerseys only, or LHPS polos.<br />
• Spirit day shirts must fit properly.<br />
• No tank tops.<br />
SPECIAL DAYS *<br />
• Athletic Days-Students representing LHPS as members of athletic teams may, on days of team competition, wear their team<br />
shirt with daily dress options of Sunshine shorts/skirts/slacks. Team shirts are not to be worn on Wednesdays. Members of<br />
athletic teams that choose not to wear their team’s uniform or team shirt must follow the Dress Code for that school day.<br />
• On College T-shirt day, students may wear jeans in accordance with the Spirit Day Attire guidelines.<br />
* Students not participating in Spirit or Special Days are required to follow the Dress Code for that school day.<br />
Spirit and special days are a privilege. Failure to abide by the Spirit and Special day dress code may result in<br />
the loss of the privilege.
