“Top Ten Schools” state trophies. The team was the only one of 40
state finalist schools to earn a perfect score at the chapter level of
competition. Lake Highland was recognized as the top private school in
Central Florida at the Central Florida MathCounts Competition.
Twenty-four students from Lake Highland competed in the 2014 Florida Future
Problem Solving State Competition. LHPS Middle School won first place in Scenario
Writing and Community Problem Solving. One student earned an invitation to the Future Problem Solving International
Competition at Iowa State University. Three students finished in the top five in the state in Global Issues Problem Solving.
A team of four students won first place in Health, Civic, and Human Concerns.
All 7th grade students entered the Orlando Repertory Theatre’s 10th Annual Writes of Spring essay contest in the fall. Five
of our students, out of more than 2000 entrants, were selected as finalists. The winning essays were adapted into a fully
staged production for the Orlando Repertory Theatre.
Foreign Wars Patriot Pen Essay contest. The entrants wrote their essays
in 7th Grade American History class based on the statement, “What I
would tell the Founding Fathers.”
THE CHARLES CLAYTON CAMPUS is a uniquely designed
separate campus for 400 Middle School students who are guided,
supported and challenged by faculty, administrators and counselors.
The Middle School curriculum prepares each student for the transition
from elementary school to the challenging program of grades 9-12. Lake
Highland’s Middle School recognizes the distinctive needs and wonderful
attributes of 7th and 8th graders and equips them with the tools necessary
for lifetime learning. All students apply the newest technologies to their
learning. Individual iPads are a daily learning tool along with the latest
mathematical calculators, science lab probes, Smartboards, document cameras
and presentation tools. Our students think critically, communicate effectively
and solve complex problems with the efficiency of emerging technologies. In
addition to college preparatory academics, LHPS offers a rich combination
of athletic programs, extra-curricular activities and community service
opportunities to complete the development of the well-rounded Highlander.
A MESSAGE FROM
THE MIDDLE SCHOOL DIRECTOR
The goal of our Middle School at Lake Highland is to provide students with
an atmosphere that encourages them to blossom into young adults who
strive to balance a commitment to individual excellence with a commitment
to the welfare of others. Serving the needs of the whole child is at the heart
of the Middle School program; thus, support for the student’s spiritual,
physical, social and artistic needs complement what is being achieved
academically. The development of character is a critical ingredient to the
mission of the school.
We welcome your interest in Lake Highland’s Middle School and look
forward to your application.
