What’s HOT An art exhibition for seven artists 17- 31 January, National Theater An exhibition entitled “Seven Perspectives Exhibition” will showcase art work of multi national resident artist of Abu Dhabi (Abu Dhabi Art Squad). The artists are: Andrew Field (England); Said Ali Sowafy (Uganda) ; Bruce Spencer Hill (New Zealand); Ali Hammad (Pakistan) ; Giovanna Magugliani (Italy) ; Sam Faix (USA) and Svilen Petrov (Bulgaria). Abu Dhabi Art Squad (ADAS) is a group of Abu Dhabi resident artists dedicated to making the visual arts more visible in the city. They hold regular public art sessions so that citizens and residents can see that vital art exist outside galleries. With major art museums being currently built in Abu Dhabi, there is an urgent need to grow the grassroots art scene and ADAS is doing their small part. The exhibition comes as part of ADACH efforts to support the art movement in UAE and make it available for the people of Abu Dhabi emirate. Wang Jackson Concert with DJ SABRINA 21 January, 2011, Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex, Zayed Sports City Who is Wang Jackson? Wang has gained fame for his uncanny resemblance to the late pop star Michael Jackson and for his incredible imitation of the superstar’s amazing dance moves. Wang is a Chinese impersonator and will perform his biggest dancing concert ever, in Abu Dhabi for the first time. The organisers Sky Events Management say the concert will be enormous with special teams coming from China, America, and England to make it happen. The Chinese Jackson had met the real Michael Jackson a year before the star’s death. They met in America and the star is allegedly to have predicted great success for his Chinese look-alike. Wang has performed concerts in America, China, and Europe, under the slogan, “Michael forever, and No Difference between Michael and Wang”. Abu Dhabi’s coastline sprawls across 1,138 kilometers. The desert reigns supreme throughout this region, and hence the terrain is mainly flat and bereft of vegitation. The desert wasteland consists of numerous sand dunes that are apt for desert safaris in Abu Dhabi. The highest point in Abu Dhabi is Jabal Yibir (1,527 meters). Wild wadi bashing: Wadi Bashing in Abu Dhabi is the thrill of driving on a dry and rocky riverbed . A wadi is the parched and rock-strewn course of rivers through rocky valleys carved out by floodwaters. You can go wadi bashing while you are on a desert safari. Wadi Bashing in Abu Dhabi is an exciting adventure. Expert instructions are usually given to beginners going out in a hired four-wheel driver to reduce the risk of becoming marooned in the desert. October to April is the best time to go Wadi Bashing in Abu Dhabi so you don’t not face the burning sun. Qasr Al Hosn (Al Hosn Palace) Al Hosn Palace is the oldest building in Abu Dhabi. This building was built in 1793 as the residence of the then ruling family. This building is commonly known as Old Fort or the White Fort. The interiors of Al Hosn Palace Abu Dhabi have been modernized. This palace is considered historical, and is currently under renovation. This is certainly the best place to review history. Al Hosn Palace is known for its beautiful architecture. The work on the main gate is particularly splendid. The magnificence and importance of this place has attracted a large number of foreign tourists over the years. The palace, once opened, will showcasestraditional artifacts, handicrafts and historical photographs. The exhibits would provide an insight about wildlife of the UAE with special features on animal life from the desert. The historical section are expected to include displays of the history of the UAE, with emphasis on Abu Dhabi. 9
