There were some important decisions<br />
to make follow<strong>in</strong>g the takeover by Sany.<br />
Perhaps the most important was: “<strong>Putzmeister</strong><br />
will always be <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> the<br />
construction of mach<strong>in</strong>es with the <strong>Putzmeister</strong><br />
name”, which means that <strong>in</strong> the<br />
future, <strong>Putzmeister</strong> mach<strong>in</strong>es will cont<strong>in</strong>ue<br />
to be developed by <strong>Putzmeister</strong> <strong>in</strong><br />
Germany and built <strong>in</strong> a <strong>Putzmeister</strong> factory.<br />
We are currently work<strong>in</strong>g on some<br />
jo<strong>in</strong>t projects with developers from Sany<br />
to strengthen Sany's position on the Ch<strong>in</strong>ese<br />
market. However, this is only possible<br />
to a limited extend because the ma<strong>in</strong><br />
task of the <strong>Putzmeister</strong> development<br />
department is develop<strong>in</strong>g mach<strong>in</strong>es for<br />
<strong>Putzmeister</strong> customers.<br />

world quite a lot. How many days have<br />
you spent abroad this year? How can you<br />
<strong>in</strong>corporate the various country-specific<br />
differences <strong>in</strong>to the technical requirements?<br />

I don't really like to count the days! The<br />
global structure of <strong>Putzmeister</strong> dictates<br />
the need for a global presence. We have<br />
structured <strong>Putzmeister</strong> so that each regional<br />
subsidiary has technical representatives<br />
who know the local conditions<br />
and rema<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> close contact with<br />
customers. It is very important to listen<br />
to customers and understand their requirements<br />
wherever they are <strong>in</strong> the world.<br />
The countries <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> a new project<br />
must be def<strong>in</strong>ed before development can<br />
start. The project is then developed <strong>in</strong><br />
Germany <strong>in</strong> close collaboration with the<br />
national subsidiaries and development<br />
projects for previous mach<strong>in</strong>es have<br />
shown that this works very well.<br />

The question is what you exactly mean<br />
by “enough”. I always have some spare<br />
time and if my professional role is excit<strong>in</strong>g<br />
enough, any rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g time I have is<br />
also enough. I spend my free time with<br />
my family whenever possible, tak<strong>in</strong>g<br />
trips to the countryside, visit<strong>in</strong>g cultural<br />
sights or eat<strong>in</strong>g out <strong>in</strong> restaurants. n<br />
