PTA 105 Physical Agents I 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: Admission to the Physical Therapist Assistant program.<br />

Concurrent enrollment in PTA 101, PTA 101LW, PTA 105LW, PTA 110,<br />

PTA 110L, ENG113, and LW 206A. Provides the theory and principles<br />

of modalities including, but not limited to, hydrotherapy, therapeutic<br />

massage, thermal agents, ultrasound, traction, intermittent compression,<br />

and cryotherapy. Prepares the student to perform physical therapy<br />

intervention as part of a physical therapist’s plan of care, under the<br />

exercise, activities of daily living, kinematic gait analysis, gross postural<br />

assessment, transfer techniques, and gait training with assistive devices.<br />

Prepares the student to perform physical therapy intervention as part of<br />

a physical therapist’s plan of care, under the direction and supervision<br />

PTA 120 Orthopedic Rehabilitation 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisites: PTA 101, PTA 101LW, PTA 105, PTA 105LW, PTA 110, PTA<br />

110L, ENG 113, and LW 206A with a “C” (2.0) minimum grade in each.<br />

Concurrent enrollment in PTA 102, PTA 120L, PTA 123W, PTA 123LW,<br />

PTA 124, PTA 125, PTA 125LW, and LWA 206B. Introduces common<br />

orthopedic injuries and disabilities that affect adults and children.<br />

Provides entry-level principles and rationale needed to administer<br />

rehabilitation exercise programs for orthopedic conditions. Prepares the<br />

student to perform physical therapy intervention as part of a physical<br />

therapist’s plan of care, under the direction and supervision of the<br />
