PNE 121LW Fundamentals of Practical Nursing<br />
Lab<br />
3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: Current validation for PN Program. Concurrent enrollment<br />
in PNE 121. Introduces the Provider of Care role and includes<br />
opportunties to practice clinical nursing skills and techniques in the care<br />
of adults in selected clinical facilities. Introduces the Member within<br />
the Discipline of Nursing role through identification of legal and ethical<br />
considerations for the practical nurse. For successful completion, a grade<br />
of at least a “C” must be earned in both this course and its concurrent<br />
theory course (lab grade will be same as theory grade). A final grade<br />
of “F” will be assigned in both theory and lab if either course is not<br />
successfully completed. (0-135)<br />
PNE 121W Fundamentals of Nursing 6 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: Current validation for PN Program. Concurrent enrollment<br />
in PNE 121L. Focuses on the Nursing Process as applied to basic human<br />
needs, introduces concepts and theories related to holistic patient<br />
care and health education. Includes nutrition, cultural, psychosocial,<br />
basic mental health concepts and legal aspects pertaining to practical<br />
nursing. This theory course has a concurrent lab course. For successful<br />
completion, a grade of at least a “C” must be earned in this course and<br />
its concurrent lab course (lab grade will be same as theory grade). A<br />
final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and lab if either course<br />

PNE 122LW Care of Adult I Lab 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: PNE 121 and PNE 121L with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0).<br />
Concurrent enrollment in PNE 122. Provides clinical opportunities to<br />
apply the roles of Provider of Care and Member within the Discipline of<br />
Nursing while providing care for the adult medical/surgical patient. For<br />
successful completion, a grade of at least a “C” must be earned in both<br />
this course and its concurrent theory course (lab grade will be same as<br />
theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and<br />
lab if either course is not successfully completed. (0-135)<br />
PNE 122W Care of the Adult I 6 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: PNE 121and PNE 121L with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0)<br />
. Concurrent enrollment in PNE 122L. Includes the study of altered<br />
systems: respiratory, endocrine, cardiac, neuro, hematology, immune,<br />
gastrointestinal, and renal. Study of concepts related to oncology, team<br />
dynamics, fluid and electrolyte balance, communication, teaching<br />
learning, nutrition, and pre- and post-operative care. This theory course<br />
has a concurrent lab course. For successful completion, a grade of at<br />
least a “C” must be earned in this course and its concurrent lab course<br />
(lab grade will be same as theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be<br />
assigned in both theory and lab if either course is not successfully<br />

PNE 123LW Care of Adult II Lab 2 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: PNE 122 and PNE 122L with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0)<br />
. Focuses on application of the provider of care and member within the<br />
discipline of nursing role while providing care for a group of clients and<br />
learning group dynamics. This lab course has a concurrent theory course<br />
(PNE 123). For successful completion, a grade of at least a “C” must be<br />
earned in this course and its concurrent theory course (lab grade will<br />
be same as theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both<br />
theory and lab if either component is not successfully completed. (0-90)<br />
PNE 123W Care of the Adult II 2 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: PNE 122 and PNE 122L with a minimum grade of “C”<br />
(2.0). Concurrent enrollment in PNE 123L. Focuses on care of the adult<br />
patient experiencing healing alterations related to the following systems:<br />
musculoskeletal, eye-ear, skin and reproductive. Requires a concurrent<br />
lab course. For successful completion, a grade of at least a “C” must<br />
be earned in this course and its concurrent lab course (lab grade will<br />
be same as theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both<br />
theory and lab if either component is not successfully completed. (30-0)<br />
PNE 125LW Basic Maternal Child Lab 1 Sem Hr<br />
Prerequisites: PNE 122 and PNE 122L with a minimum grade of “C”<br />
(2.0). Concurrent enrollment in PNE 123, 123L, and 125W is required.<br />
Provides clinical and laboratory opportunities that focus on basic family<br />
centered maternity care, growth and development, and care of pediatric<br />
patients and their families while working as a Provider of Care. For<br />
successful completion, a grade of at least a “C” must be earned in this<br />
course and its concurrent theory course (lab grade will be the same as<br />
theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and<br />
lab if either component is not successfully completed. Credit may be<br />
earned in PNE 125L or PNE 124L, but not both. (0-45)<br />
PNE 125W Basic Maternal Child 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: PNE 122 and PNE 122L with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0).<br />
Concurrent enrollment in PNE 123, 123L, and 125LW is required. Focues<br />
on basic family centered maternity care, growth and development, care<br />
of pediatric patients and their families, assisting with attaining optimal<br />
state of wellness. For successful completion, a grade of at least a “C”<br />
must be earned in this course and its concurrent lab course (theory grade<br />
will be the same as lab grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in<br />
both theory and lab if either component is not successfully completed.<br />
Credit may be earned in PNE 125 or PNE 124, but not both. (45-0)<br />

Introduces the development and maintenance of the U.S. system of<br />
government. Surveys the nature of American political institutions,<br />
behavior, ideas and their structure. Explores core beliefs and their affect<br />
on government participation. Explores the role of citizens in a diverse<br />
democracy. Intended to be taken only as part of a Learning Community.<br />
Credit may be earned any POL 103 course, any POL 104 course, or any<br />
POL 111 course but not in both. (This course satisfies the American<br />
Government graduation requirement in all curricula.) (45-0)<br />
